Sony's three major entertainment businesses achieved healthy growth. Revenue from recorded music, music distribution, and streaming services supported by paid streaming subscriptions continued to rise; game hardware and content sales growth slowed, but the control of SGA fees and PS5 strategic pricing costs contributed to the increase in operating profit; film and television revenue soared, mainly due to the box office hits of the two new series of "Spider-Man" and "Venom", the growth of TV licensing revenue of "Seinfeld" and the increase in media network sales brought by Crunchyroll.
At the same time, Sony Group announced that it has raised its business forecast for the full year of fiscal 2021, and that its operating profit is expected to reach 1.2 trillion yen (operating profit in the previous fiscal year was 955.3 billion yen).
