The prime minister of Papua New Guinea came to visit, going back and forth for tens of thousands of kilometers, full of sincerity. The two countries reciprocated with peach and goodwill. Papua New Guinea is located in the South Pacific Ocean with an area of about 460,000 square kilometers and a population of 8.78 million. The urban population accounts for 15 per cent and the rural population for 85 per cent. There are about 20,000 overseas Chinese.
China and Papua New Guinea established diplomatic relations on October 12, 1976. Since 2002, China has been sending medical teams to Papua New Guinea and conducting free consultations at Port Moresby General Hospital, and 8 batches have been dispatched so far. In September 2014 and July 2018, the Hospital Ship "Peace Ark" of the Chinese Navy visited Papua New Guinea twice and conducted free clinics there. In April 2016, China supplied Papua New Guinea with antimalarial drugs and supplies.
After the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia epidemic in 2020, China provided several batches of anti-epidemic materials, vaccines and other assistance to Papua New Guinea.
Presumably, the prime minister of Papua New Guinea was invited to beijing to participate in the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games, and also repaid the favor and supported China.
