In 1995, members of the Sino-Japanese Niya Site Academic Expedition found a piece of brocade in an ancient tomb at the Niya Site in Minfeng County, Hotan District, Xinjiang, with a length of 18.5 cm and a width of 12.5 cm, with 8 seal Characters on it: "Five Stars Out of the East and Benefit China". Hailed as one of the greatest discoveries of Chinese archaeology in the 20th century, this tapestry is now a national first-class cultural relic, and is collected as a treasure of the town museum in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Museum.
The brocade "Five Stars Out of the East and China" was unearthed in 1995 by Nya
In order to inherit Chinese culture, Beijing Performing Arts Group gathered the gold medal creative team such as chief choreographer Wang Ge, screenwriter Xu Rui, composer Yang Fan, etc., and spent two years to create a large-scale dance drama "Five Stars out of the East", and specially invited Ayunga and Tan Weiwei to sing the theme song "Don't Forget Each Other". The dance drama takes the "five stars out of the East and Benefits China" han dynasty brocade armband as the historical theme, deeply excavates the customs and cultural aesthetics of the Central Plains and the western regions during the Han Dynasty, reproduces the moving legendary story of the national treasure in the pulsating drum beat and gorgeous dance, makes the cultural relics "alive" on the stage, and uses dance to "tell" the story.
A hot treasure dance drama
"Breaking the stereotype of the main melody work in the audience's mind"
The dance drama tells the moving story of the Han Dynasty Shubian general "Feng" between the ancient city of Jingjie and the son of the Northern leader "Jiante" and the daughter of the Jingjie chieftain "Chunjun", from sword fighting to hand-in-hand, from unknown to deep identification, and forming a deep friendship, interpreting the theme of the people of all ethnic groups "hugging together like pomegranate seeds" and forming a community of common destiny for the Chinese nation.
As a newly created debut last year, "Five Stars out of the East" has been invited to participate in a number of activities and programs, and appeared in major Spring Festival galas during the Spring Festival, such as the colorful stage of the 2021 Service Trade Fair, CCTV's "National Treasures Exhibition season", Henan Satellite TV's "Dance Millennium", Literature and Art China's 2022 New Year Special Program, Shaanxi Satellite TV Silk Road Spring Festival Gala, etc.
In order to reproduce the history and culture of the early western ethnic groups and highlight the profound spiritual connotation behind the cultural relics, the main creative team of "Five Stars out of the East" personally went to Xinjiang Hetian to collect style in the early stage of creation, fully studied historical facts, folk feelings, costumes, music, etc., and extracted artistic vocabulary from them, in order to highly restore the artistic expression of historical facts, and strive to break through the boundaries between ancient and modern, so that cultural relics can bloom again with unparalleled charm and vitality.
The collection and presentation of a variety of dance styles is one of the biggest features of the whole dance drama, which surprises the dance sections of different plots. For example, the "lantern dance" of the night feast full of western colors can find the shadow of the national dance; the "bundy" dance section where the people of all ethnic groups dance together seems to be a fusion of street dance and tap dance; and the "Splendid Embroidery" dance section in the upturned sleeves and waist bending trend combines the elements of classical Han and Tang dance and so on. Such a rich and interesting dance creation subverts the audience's traditional cognition of the main theme dance drama of the national theme, and directly calls for full scores for creativity!
Director Wang Ye said: "We just want to break the stereotype of the main theme work in the audience's mind! "Five Stars out of the East" not only integrates popular elements of the Internet in the plot, making the audience laugh and cry with a witty and humorous story, but also makes the visual presentation richer and more eye-catching through novel stage props and cool multimedia images.
From February 11th to 13th, follow the treasure dance drama "Five Stars Out of the East" to feel the exquisite dance steps of the millennium brocade illusion, and appreciate the ultimate aesthetic expression of traditional Chinese culture!
