Introduction of attractions
Located in Asahikawa City, Hokkaido, Asahiyama Zoo is the northernmost zoo in Japan and is now the most visited zoo in All of Japan.
The biggest feature here is the humanized design, which ensures that the animals can be in a relatively free breeding state to the greatest extent, and allows visitors to observe the animals at zero distance through clever displays.
Every winter, the zoo launches a special penguin parade, and visitors have the opportunity to walk around behind the cute penguin procession twice a day
If visitors are traveling from Sapporo for a day trip, they can choose to take the Asahikawa Zoo train, which has a unique animal theme in each carriage.
Transportation Asahiyama Zoo is located in Asahikawa City, and it takes 1 hour and 40 minutes to fly from Tokyo Haneda Airport to Asahikawa Airport.
After arrival, it takes 30 minutes to drive from Asahikawa Airport to Asahiyama Zoo.
You can also take a bus (Asahikawa Electric Rail Bus or Dohoku Bus) from Asahikawa Airport to JR Asahikawa Station in 35 minutes, then transfer to the Asahikawa Electric Rail Bus and reach Asahiyama Zoo in 40 minutes.
The fine print
Admission: 820 yen for adults, 590 yen for people in Asahikawa City, free for young people (junior high school students and younger).
Open from May to October 9:30-17:15;
November to April 10:30-15:30;
The night zoo is only available from 9 August to 15 August: 9:00-21:00
