There are thousands of people in the world who paint with paintbrushes, but not many people paint with steel knives. In Mabian Yi Autonomous County, Xiaoliangshan, southwest Sichuan, there is a folk art master who paints with steel knives, foams, sponges, cloth blocks, and toilet paper, and he is the first person to paint Long Yun with a mabian knife.
Long Yun is a math and art teacher at a township center school in Mabian County. Medium-sized, lean figure, short hair, high nose bridge with a pair of large glasses, looks very elegant. Walking into Long Yun's home, the living room, dining room, aisle, and bedroom are full of his knife paintings and oil paintings, and there are many bamboo carvings in the storage cabinet.
"When I was in school, I only learned some sketching, the most basic knowledge of chiaroscuro, perspective, color, appreciation, etc., and I did not specialize in painting. After joining the work, he used his spare time to teach himself Chinese painting, oil painting and bamboo carving by watching the China Education Channel..." Long Yun talked about his artistic life. He said that Chinese painting has learned gong brush painting, freehand landscape and freehand peony; oil painting mainly includes works such as "Fruit Diagram" and "Small Bridge Flowing Water People's Home"; bamboo carvings have "Pear Blossom", "Lotus Flower", "Rose", "Butterfly", "Dragon", "Eagle" and other crafts, but most of them are sent to friends.
Speaking of knife painting, Long Yun first showed the unique tools used to create knife paintings, steel files, hacksaws, foams, sponges, and cloth blocks.
Long Yun said that when he went online in 2011, he met a QQ friend who studied knife painting, and after talking about the emerging painting technique of knife painting, he became extremely interested in knife painting. Therefore, he began to collect and learn about the origin, history, development, techniques and other text introductions and video materials on the Internet, and successively studied books such as "Wang Yan Square Knife Painting Technique Guide", "Wang Yan Square Knife Painting Technique 100 Questions" and "Wang Yan Square Knife Painting Video" and other video materials. He also joined the knife painting QQ group introduced by QQ friends, and discussed knife painting techniques with the members and masters of the Chinese Knife Painting Association in the group as soon as he had time, and asked them for advice if he was confused. Then, learn and practice, and summarize experience while creating and exploring.
Knife painting, also known as hyper-realistic painting, is a kind of homemade steel knife, oil brush as the main tool, with sponge, foam knife and other auxiliary tools, knife and pen combination, with a knife will be applied to the wooden board, canvas, paper on the oil paint scraping, in order to achieve the best ideal picture of the artistic technique. Knife painting was born in Dunhua City, Jilin Province. On the afternoon of March 18, 1978, song Wanqing, the founder of knife painting, was concentrating on painting oil paint on the wooden board, and accidentally, the drawing board was defiled by the oil paint that flowed down, and in a hurry, Elder Song hurriedly used the oil painting knife to scrape the oil paint that was flowing, but scraped out an unexpected effect, so this new painting method of changing the pen to a knife was born - knife painting. Knife painting sets the length of Chinese painting and oil painting, makes up for the shortness of the two, integrates the outstanding characteristics of three-dimensionality, space and realism, etc., and has a strong realistic effect and is close to nature, which is the perfect combination of Chinese and Western painting methods. Long Yun began to talk about the concept, origin and difference between knife painting and other types of painting.
Long Yun said that knife painting belongs to a kind of painting method in oil painting, the difference is that oil painting uses color enhancement method, and knife painting uses color subtraction method. Knife painting mainly includes scratching, pulling, dragging, frustrated, pointing, shooting, rubbing and other painting methods. How to scrape the mountain can reflect its strange beauty and danger; how to paint the water, in order to feel its dynamics; Blue sky and white clouds, snowy mountain meadows, tree houses, small grass and stones how to paint, in order to show its beauty, there are different techniques...
At present, Long Yun's knife painting works mainly include more than 20 paintings such as "The Great Wall", "Cornucopia", "Mountains", "Spring", "Summer", "Autumn", "Winter" and so on. The distant mountains and trees in that picture, the distant snow and near the water, the knife and knife have a method, the knife has charm, the sense of light, texture, three-dimensional sense, and the sense of space are very strong, giving people a unique and novel, pleasing to the eye, refreshing feeling, it can really be described as a wonderful knife, unique ingenuity, with high ornamental value, decorative value and collection value.
Long Yun is a very modest and low-key master of art. He said that painting knives is not about becoming famous or generating income, he is just doing something he likes to do. In the future, I want to go to the northeast myself and learn knife painting skills from the knife painting masters face to face, so as to continuously improve my knife painting level and strive to create more and better knife painting works of art.
