Later, he heard a private school gentleman say that in the Nanshan Mountains, not far from his hometown, there was a highly enlightened monk who could answer all kinds of difficult questions about life. So he set off overnight, inquiring about the monk's residence along the way.
One day, when he came to the foot of the South Mountain, he saw a woodcutter coming down from the mountain with a load of firewood, so he went forward and asked, "Elder Brother Woodman, do you know where a noble monk lives on this South Mountain?" What a look? ”
The woodcutter pondered for a moment and said, "There is indeed a high monk on the mountain, but I don't know where he lives, because he often travels around and transforms the world with fate."
As for his appearance, some people say that he is full of Buddha's light and has a strange appearance; others say that he is unkempt and dirty, and he does not trim the edges. No one can say for sure. ”
Thanks to the woodcutter, the young man made up his mind and marched desperately into the mountains.
Later, he met farmers, hunters, shepherd boys, medicine pickers, etc., but he never found the monk in his mind who could guide the mysteries of life.
In desperation, he turned back to the mountain, and on the way he met a beggar with a broken bowl, asking him for water to drink, and the young man took the water bag from his body, poured some water into the bowl, and before the beggar could drink it, the water ran out.
In desperation, the young man poured some water into the bowl and urged the beggar to drink it quickly. But as soon as the bowl reached the beggar's mouth, the water ran out again.
"How can you hold water with a broken bowl?" How can you use it to quench your thirst? The young man said impatiently.
"Poor man, you go around asking for the truth of life, and you are modest on the surface. But you judge in your heart whether other people's words are right for you, you can't accept things that don't suit you, and these stereotypes create a big hole in your mind that makes you never get an answer. ”
When the young man heard this, he suddenly realized, and hurriedly asked, "Is the master the monk I am looking for?" After several questions were not answered, he looked up to look for the beggar, but there was no trace of him.
Is there a hole in the mind? Of course. Stereotypes are loopholes in the mind, and so is jealousy, suspicion, cowardice, impetuosity, hatred, etc. are all loopholes in the mind, but everyone's mental loopholes are different. If these loopholes are all in one, I am afraid that this person will be hopeless.
It is not terrible that there are loopholes in the soul, but what is terrible is that it is not to make up for the leaks, which will only become bigger and bigger and harm life. And with loopholes willing to make up for it, it is valuable. There are loopholes in heaven that can be remedied, but what cannot be repaired by the human heart?
To make up for the mind requires a good attitude, a curious mind, more thinking and less impulsiveness, more calmness and less impetuousness, more tolerance and less jealousy, more love and less hatred... In this way, life will become more beautiful.
