Hamandam bin Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum (Arabic: الشيخ حمدان بن محمد بب راشد آل مكتوم) (born November 14, 1982), nicknamed Faza (Arabic: فزاع), Crown Prince of the Emirate of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He is the second son of The current Vice-President and Prime Minister of the Uae, Emir (Sheikh) Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Grand Princess Hied, and the younger brother of the former Crown Prince, Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Born on 14 November 1982, Hamdan first attended Rashid Private School in Dubai and later studied in the United Kingdom,[2] at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. After graduating from the Military Academy, Hamdan entered the London School of Economics and Political Science.
After returning home, Hamdan attended The Dubai Government School. He was appointed Chairman of the Dubai Joint Executive Meeting in September 2006 and has contributed significantly to the Joint Executive Meeting. He has a keen interest in building a "barrier-free society" that meets the special needs of the people, for which he proposes proposals to meet all the special requirements of the people and to give priority to mainstream integration. To make Dubai's roads safer, he approved an unprecedented traffic control system in November 2006 that would severely punish drivers who violate traffic rules, confiscate their driver's licenses for six months and detain their cars for one month. Under his leadership, the Executive Joint Conference announced the Strategy for Dubai 2015 in February 2007.
He is also the head of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Youth Business Leadership Agency named after his father, President of the Dubai Movement Council and President of the Dubai Autism Centre.
Known for his poetry and horse racing, Hamdan's poems are mostly romantic, patriotic and about his family, and he publishes poems under the pseudonym "Faza" (Arabic: فزاع).
In December 2006, Hamdan represented the UAE in the equestrian competition of the 15th Asian Games in Doha, Qatar, where he won the team endurance race.
Hamdan is also an avid collector of cars, including desert off-road jeeps, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Lamborghini and Ferrari.
In 2008, his brother Lasid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum was stripped of his crown prince title by his father, Chief Mohammed. Subsequently, Chief Mohammed appointed Hamdan as Crown Prince on 1 February. Dubai officials simply stated that Hamdan was more suitable for the position without further explanation.
