The women's ice hockey final of the Beijing Winter Olympics ended today (17th) afternoon, and Canada defeated the United States 3-2, winning the Winter Olympic gold medal for the fifth time in history. Of all the Canadian women's ice skaters who participated in the competition and won the gold medal, 7 are LGBTQ athletes who have come out publicly, 1 of the American women's ice team members who have won the silver medal, and 1 member of the Finnish women's ice team who has won the bronze medal has also come out publicly.
