A few days ago, it was learned from Anting Hospital in Jiading District that after 10 days of precise treatment and careful care, Xiao Caixia, a 33-week premature baby, bravely crossed the three life-threatening barriers in the company of medical staff, and finally recovered and was discharged.
"This is the youngest premature baby in the hospital who has successfully treated the hospital, and it is still thrilling to think about it now..." said Zhao Hui, director of the hospital's pediatric department.
At 13:00 on February 13, Xiao Caixia, who was only 33+3 weeks old, was born in Anting Hospital, weighing 2400g. Due to premature birth, suffocation, and difficulty breathing, he was sent to the pediatric ward before his parents could see it.
The first level of the journey of life: breathing off
Due to the occurrence of suffocation after birth, Xiao Caixia began to receive emergency treatment in the delivery room: cleaning the respiratory tract, inhaling oxygen, keeping warm, and reviving positive pressure ventilation of the air sac. After resuscitation, there is an unavoidable shortness of breath, moaning and other breathing difficulties, and the blood oxygen saturation without oxygen is less than 80%.
"The appearance of this condition was expected, when the 'neonatal respiratory distress syndrome' caused by incomplete lung development in premature infants was considered. If not treated in time, the condition is very dangerous and life-threatening. Director Zhao Hui explained.
Through full communication with the children's families, the pediatric medical team immediately applied ventilator-assisted ventilation to Xiao Caixia and performed "alveolar surfactant intrapulmonary perfusion". With the gradual stabilization of Xiao Caixia's breathing, the ventilator was successfully removed after three days, and there was no obvious abnormality after reviewing the relevant indicators. This means that the breathing level of the first level has passed!

The second level of the journey of life: the infection level
There are 40 beds in the pediatric ward, which are almost daily full and the beds are tight. Considering the special situation of premature infants with incomplete organ development, rapid changes in condition and high susceptibility to infection, the Department of Pediatrics has opened a green channel and a single room ward for children. At the same time, it is equipped with special care and 24-hour one-on-one care. The pediatric nurse dressed in isolation clothes became a temporary "mother" and "breathed and worked together" with Xiao Caixia in the ward. In this way, it effectively reduces personal contact, prevents infection, and makes nursing care more continuous.
The third level of the journey of life: feeding the level
"Thinking about Xiao Caixia's treatment in the first week after her birth, we are still nervous." Deng Qian, chief nurse of the department of pediatrics, said that the intestinal function of newborns is poor, and feeding must be particularly cautious, not to mention that this is the first case of the youngest premature baby in the hospital, and everyone is looking forward to Xiao Caixia getting better day by day.
Every day, according to Xiao Caixia's weight, feeding situation and laboratory results on that day, pediatric medical staff need to accurately calculate the amount of input fluids, output, mix nutrient solutions and dosing plans. Every day, she must always pay attention to the state of her abdomen and record the defecation, because the slightest negligence may have fatal consequences such as hypoxia, ischemia, necrosis of the intestinal wall. From the initial fasting, to the gastric tube nasal feeding, and now able to suck on her own, Xiao Caixia's daily feeding is inseparable from the "careful calculation" of medical staff.
