Benchmark snapdragon 888, MediaTek Tianji 8000 / Tianji 8100 released

On March 1, MediaTek officially released its flagships, the SoC Tianji 8000 and Tianji 8100, focusing on energy efficiency ratios. From the perspective of parameter specifications, the two 5nm chips are obviously positioned to play with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 870 and Snapdragon 888.

Tianji 8000 uses TSMC 5nm process:

The CPU part is a 4x2.75GHz A78 + a 4x2.0GHz A55, 4MB L3 cache;

Supports up to 6400Mbps of LPDDR5 memory;

The GPU is a Mali-G610 with 6 cores;

The APU is a dual performance core + 1 universal core;

Supports up to 168Hz 1080P+ screen;

3-way 14-bit ISPs with up to 5 billion pixels per second. Can shoot in parallel with dual camera and support triple exposure, up to 3200W+3200W+1600W camera;

In terms of network, there are R16 5G, and the peak downstream of dual carriers is 4.7Gbps, and the main focus is still the energy efficiency ratio;

Support 2x2 Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3.

The Tianji 8100 can be understood as the overclocked version of the Tianji 8000, the CPU large core is 0.1GHz (2.85GHz), the APU performance core frequency is 25% higher, the GPU frequency is 20% higher, and the maximum support is 2K+120Hz screen.

The whole process of the conference emphasized power control:

The CPU was tested in GeekBench 5 multi-core, 12% higher than its competitors and 44% more energy efficient;

The GPU is in the GFXBench Manhattan 3.0 scene, which is 4% higher than the competitors of the same level and 35% more energy efficient;

39% higher AI performance and 72% higher energy efficiency;

The power consumption of 90 frames of chicken is 24% lower than that of friends, and the temperature is 3 degrees lower.

Although MediaTek did not name names, the same level competitor on the PPT is most likely to be Snapdragon 888. After all, even TSMC 5nm is unlikely to be able to leave the Snapdragon 870 so much in terms of energy efficiency ratio.

For the time being, the official did not release detailed CPU architecture information, and the 2.85GHz large core of the "4+4" structure was marked. Before the Tianji 1100/1200 is actually a "1+3+4" structure, even if it is the same frequency, the super core will have a larger cache and stronger performance. Because MediaTek did not make a special distinction before, it is still unclear whether the Tianji 8000/8100 will have a super core.

Resources

Kirin 9000 is TSMC 5nm, 3.13GHz A77 super core + 3x2.54GHz A77 large core + 2.05GHz A55, GPU is Mali-G78 MP24;

Snapdragon 870 is TSMC 7nm (N7P) process, 3.2GHz A77 super core + 3x2.42GHz class A77 large core + 1.8GHz class A55, 670MHz Adreno 650 (Snapdragon 865 is 2.84GHz super core);

Tianji 8000/8100 single-core performance, it is unlikely to win the above 2 predecessors, but the frequency of the 4 large cores is not low, and the multi-core performance should be considerable. The main energy efficiency ratio is also reasonable, after all, the highest frequency is also "only" 2.85GHz, and the process is also ahead of qualcomm generation (strictly speaking, TSMC 5nm is a generation or two ahead of Samsung 5nm... )。

Before that, there was already an Antu rabbit running score of Tianji 8100, with a total score of 820,000, and the total score/GPU score was close to Snapdragon 888, and the CPU and Snapdragon 870 were close.

According to ARM's naming convention, the Mali-G710 is a 7-core start, a 16-core cap, and a G610 with 6 or fewer cores. It is known that the Tianji 9000 is a 10-core Mali-G710 MP10 with a frequency of 850MHz. Qualcomm and MediaTek's flagship GPUs in 2021 and 2022 have a gap of around 40% to 50%, and the GPU frequency of the estimated Tianji 8100 is also estimated to be around 850MHz.

The media communication meeting is not over, Redmi, OPPO, OnePlus and True I released the poster of the Tianji 8000 series, and Fa Ge is very popular this year. Except for the OPPO K10 series, the others are written as Tianji 8100.

Tianji 9000 benchmark Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (the energy efficiency ratio is too far away, now I am embarrassed to call the benchmark), Tianji 8100 is benchmarked against Snapdragon 888, Tianji 8000 is benchmarked against Snapdragon 870. Precision strike belongs to yes, MediaTek is really a complete turnaround this year, Fa Ge Yes! TSMC Yes!
