The themes of these award-winning works involve science fiction literary themes such as time and space travel, epidemic crisis, parallel worlds, invasion of alien civilizations, human mechanical transformation, and future social structure. The organizing committee believes that many of these works have no lack of ideological insights into the development process of human civilization, focusing on the multifaceted nature of the future world of mankind, such as the evolution of human life, the protection and love of civilization, the value between the overall fate of mankind and the individual life, what is life and how to survive in the future world, and the human group psychology in the future world. These science fiction works can carry out a more perfect science fiction conception with a more perfect logical system on the basis of the existing scientific discourse, and some works show good imagination and creativity in the details of science fiction elements, at the same time, many works are grand in scenes, and literary thinking with philosophical meaning is embedded in the novel.

Looking back at the development of science fiction literature, in the West, science fiction literature has long been in the field of pure literature, while Chinese science fiction literature has long been classified as popular literature; Western science fiction literature has entered the field of anthropology and cosmic philosophy ideals after entering the 20th century, while Chinese science fiction literature began to gradually construct its own literary theory in the 1980s; when Western science fiction literature has begun to explore political philosophy, racial contradictions, war patterns, post-war order, etc., Chinese science fiction literature has long emphasized the indoctrinating function of metaphorical science in literature.

After entering the 21st century, the works of Liu Cixin, Han Song, Wang Jinkang and other writers have had an increasing impact, and Chinese science fiction literature has entered a new stage of development; researchers represented by science fiction writer and doctoral supervisor Wu Yan have also made many innovations in science fiction literature theory. Many researchers have also set their sights on science fiction literature, trying to promote Chinese science fiction literature to occupy a place in the global context.

For this selection, science fiction writer Liu Cixin believes: "Science fiction is a literary theme full of youth and vitality, and we can deeply feel the influence of science fiction works on the way of thinking and world view of young readers. At present, the development of domestic science fiction as a whole is still far from the needs of the times, there is still a huge space for development, and science fiction literature is eager for support and cultivation from all walks of life. The selection received so many submissions from all over the country, showing the incomparable enthusiasm of teenagers for science fiction. ”

Science fiction writer, theorist, and also the only domestic science fiction literature doctoral tutor Wu Yan led by the Southern University of Science and Technology Science and Human Imagination Research Center is one of the co-organizers of the "Kunpeng" National Youth Science Fiction Literature Award, Wu Yan believes: "Science fiction for China is not a simple question of how to develop, the current is a millennium unprecedented big change, we have come here, the next step how to go, we will gradually find out." In the field of social life, in the field of international relations, in the field of cutting-edge science and technology, imagination should be relied upon to provide a premise for future development. Science fiction essays should be implemented in the imagination, which is extremely important. ”

Regarding the selection, Zhou Zhonghe, chairman of the China Association of Popular Science Writers and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, believes that "science fiction literature inherently has the dual role of science and humanities, which can not only stimulate our love for science, but also promote our reflection on the development of science and technology." In today's era of rapid development of science and technology, we need to think about the relationship between current and future scientific and technological development and society. ”

At present, excellent works have entered the stage of editing and publishing. At the same time, the second "Kunpeng" National Youth Science Fiction Literature Award is also about to start.
