Mercedes-Benz EQS re-pass recall!
According to foreign media Insiders, Mercedes-Benz EQS was recalled due to loose electrical connections.
According to foreign media reports, there is a problem with the ground connection of the left headlight of the vehicle, and the improper connection may cause the left headlight to stop working, and the driver will be dangerous when driving at night. In some cases, fires may have been caused, which is also the main cause of the recall. In addition, the electric auxiliary heater in the motor cabin is also improperly fixed.
As of now, no fire or accident reports have been received related to this issue.
It is worth noting that this is not the first recall of Mercedes-Benz's flagship electric vehicle EQS, and Some time ago Mercedes-Benz also announced a recall due to problems with EQS's infotainment system.
As Mercedes-Benz's first pure electric flagship model, frequent EQS recalls have also affected the purchase intentions of potential consumers to a certain extent, and also caused some negative impacts on the electrification of Mercedes-Benz.
First, the US market recalled 24 vehicles Caused by factory production adjustments
According to the recall note issued by NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), "Improper electrical connections increase the risk of fire. The ground connection on the left front longitudinal member and the electrical connection of the electric auxiliary heater in the motor compartment may not be properly fixed. In addition, improper grounding connections can cause the left headlights to not work, affecting driver visibility and increasing the risk of collision. ”
The recall note finally stipulates that the dealer will inspect the grounding connection and the electrical connection of the auxiliary heater and repair it free of charge as necessary. The owner's notification letter is expected to be sent on April 29, 2022.

According to foreign media reports, the problem of improper electrical connection of EQS only exists in vehicles produced between May 26 and December 23, 2021, during which there is an adjustment in the production process in the Mercedes-Benz factory, which may be the reason for the possible problem of EQS grounding connection.
Of the vehicles delivered by Mercedes-Benz in the U.S. market, only 24 were affected. The 24 recalled models are: three EQS 450s, 16 EQS 450s+, four EQS 580s and one AMG EQS 53.
It is reported that Mercedes-Benz adjusted the production process after finding problems with two EQS test vehicles, and all vehicles produced after December 24 did not have this problem.
Second, the infotainment system has defects Last November, 224 vehicles were recalled
This recall is not the first of its kind at EQS. At the end of last year, the Mercedes-Benz EQS and some S-Class models were recalled by Mercedes-Benz due to defects in the infotainment system.

On November 29, 2021, Mercedes-Benz reported safety issues related to EQS software to NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). Software issues affect some EQS cars connected to Mercedes Me accounts, and the center control screen may play TV or network programs while the car is moving, which can distract the driver.
A total of 227 EQS and S-Class models were recalled, including some EQS 450 and EQS 580 models, as well as some 2021 S580 and 2022 S500 models. Following the announcement of the recall, Mercedes-Benz has already addressed the issue with an OTA update to the car's engine system.
Conclusion: Mercedes-Benz needs to pay more attention to quality issues
While the two EQS recalls didn't involve too many quantities, the EQS, Mercedes-Benz's first million-class electric flagship model, is less likely to have quality issues.
As a traditional head car company, Mercedes-Benz should pay more attention to production, control problems, and build good cars in the process of electrification to avoid the loss of potential consumers.
