Xiao Yang, screenwriter and director of Shanghai Ten Driving Film Production Co., Ltd., signed a "film and television adaptation" cooperation agreement with Zhu Yan after exchanging books.
Zhu Yan, a young writer, has long been committed to novel creation and related literary topics interviews, writing, film and television screenwriting work in Beijing and Suzhou, and has created and published three novels, a short story collection, and a large number of poetry works. Among them, the novel "The Prism of Time", published by Shanghai Sanlian Bookstore in July 2014, was distributed electronically by the American company Tradingory in February 2015. At the same time, as a screenwriter, she participated in and created many high-quality film and television scripts. Her works are good at combining fantasy and reality, deconstruction and remodeling, opening a door for readers to mysterious unknowns but potentially unlimited possibilities, which not only increases the tension of the reader's ideological space, but also makes the complex intertwined thematic meanings more effectively extended.
Composed of 10 short stories, the novel boldly takes the global supervirus outbreak in 2030 AD as the background, showing the process of self-awakening of various characters in extreme environments.
The novel takes the small people and small things that can be perceived in real life as the starting point, makes full use of narrative skills, sees "big" with "small", takes "infinite" with "limited", and conveys the deep meaning behind the text to the reader. The protagonist of each story is a small person in the current society. There are entrepreneurial losers, there are elderly people with phobias, there are children who have lost their mother's love, there are children of single-parent families, there are artists who are suffering, there are writers who insist on literary creation, there are valuable volunteers in the city...
Xiao Yang said that the theme of "The Hidden People" is profound and has strong social significance, especially the characters portrayed in the novel have distinct personalities and enter the wood. Among them, "Bad Girl" reflects the kindness, justice, responsibility and mission of the young Chinese generation since May Fourth, and is suitable for adaptation into a youth genre film; "Reverse Growth" depicts the psychology and transformation of the characters in trouble, with the style of the movie "Benjamin Barton", suitable for adaptation into a surreal film.
Cao Fengjun commented that "The Man who Lived in The House" uses literature to dissect the present, ask questions and explore the unknown world of the future, reflecting the author's courage to reveal the praise and depreciation of life and good wishes in the inner world, as well as her belief and enthusiasm for the world and her indomitable character; secondly, the work is good at selecting materials and constructing the narrative setting of the novel, using virtual reality, illusion of boundless mythology or crossing techniques, stringing together ten small character stories, with small to see the big, with virtual reality, full of postmodern literature and avant-garde literature romance and charming colors; third , the text is like its person. The novel reflects her poetic temperament, reflects her sobriety, her persistence, her solitude and calm and enthusiastic attitude to life; fourth, the novel is narrated throughout, which is both poetic, prose and novel, which fully reflects the author's ability to control the literary language and the insight to experience life.
Li Junhai commented on the work that the language of "The Sleeping Man" is concise and multi-meaning, precise and vague. At the same time, it is poetic, full of imagination, full of poetic beauty, like Chinese landscape painting, "with inexhaustible meaning beyond words".
Zhang Binchuan commented that the novel takes humanistic care as the original intention of creation, reflecting the people's livelihood in the context of the times; while illuminating the real world, it also reflects on human beings themselves. In terms of creative skills, it combines some techniques of film and television creation, such as plot reversal, suspense setting, etc., deepening the theme and avoiding the blandness of the writing.
Zhu Yan said in an interview with the media that during the creation of "The Sleeping Man", she almost wrote one article in two days, and ten stories were completed in one go. "Zhang Yanyuan once praised Wu Daozi's paintings as 'not stuck in the hand, not condensed in the heart, not knowing but not knowing', this sentence also reflects my creative state of this book, I poured an incomparably pure spirit into the text, I hope that my creation can reflect a higher aesthetic realm - natural, no trace, this is my creative desire, but also the desire of the majority of readers to trust me and help me."
