To further integrate the ideas and practices of contemporary Chinese architecture into the global architectural knowledge system, and to showcase the achievements of Chinese architects and their importance in promoting global architectural excellence, the Royal Institute of British Architects (HEREINIBA) launched the China Architect 100 programme in 2020. Objectively excavate representative Chinese architects from riba's perspective.
On March 30, 2022, RIBA finalized the list of selected architects for the China Architect 100 program. Among them, a total of 12 major people were successfully selected as "2020-2022 RIBA China 100 Architects".

Liu Jiakun
Liu Jiakun, graduated from the class of 1977 with an undergraduate major in architecture, and was later assigned to work in Chengdu Architectural Design and Research Institute. Maintaining an open vision of China's multiple traditions, and with the belief of achieving compatibility between modernity and tradition, we are committed to translating the cultural connotations of the East into contemporary architectural languages. His designs embody contemporary architectural concepts and the spiritual inheritance of tradition, conveying the rare outstanding quality of Chinese contemporary architecture that blends individual and collective memories. He has won the Asian Construction Association Honorary Award, the Architectural Record China Award, the Far East Architecture Award, and his major works include the Artist Studio Series, the Sculpture Department of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, and the Luyeyuan Stone Carving Museum.
Tang Birch
Tang Hua, graduated from the class of 1977 with a bachelor's degree in architecture, and obtained a master's degree in architectural design and its theory from the university in 1986. Professor of School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Chongqing University, Chief Architect of Shenzhen Tanghua Architectural Design Office. He is committed to contemporary regional architectural design and urban research, and strives to create spaces in accordance with professional guidelines in a rigorous and appropriate technical framework under the premise of fully cherishing and using resources and respecting the rights and dignity of everyone. Representative works include: Shenzhen Nanyou Cultural Square, Shenyang Jianzhu University, Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts Huxi Campus Library, Yunyang Civic Activity Center, The Westin Chongqing Jiefangbei, Kunming Workers' Cultural Palace, Chengdu Aerospace Park, Liangtang Academy and Jinshi Museum, Chengdu Tianfu International Convention Center and other projects.
Yang Ying
Ying Yang, graduated from 1983 undergraduate major in urban planning, received her Ph.D. in Architectural Design and Theory from Chongqing University in 2004. At present, he is the chief architect of the Fifth Bureau of China Construction, the president of the General Institute of Design and Research, a national engineering survey and design master, a hundred architects in contemporary China, and an expert enjoying special government allowances from the State Council. He has won the honorary titles of "Young Architect Award of Architectural Society of China", "Excellent Survey Designer of Hunan Province", "Model Worker of National Construction System", "100 Architects of China" and so on. On May 24, 2017, he won the second place in the Public Facilities Category B category of the Asian Institute of Architects Architecture Award and the Honorary Architecture Award for his design of the Suxianling Landscape Observatory. He is committed to the exploration of fuzzy architectural theory and practice with the construction of architectural spatial context as the core, modern building technology research, and has presided over more than 500 architectural engineering designs.
Zhao Yuanchao
Zhao Yuanchao, 1981 undergraduate major in architecture, national first-class registered architect, chief architect of China Northwest Design and Research Institute of Architecture, doctoral supervisor of Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology. He has been awarded as one of the 100 contemporary architects in China; the national outstanding scientific and technological workers; the national engineering survey and design master; and the national model worker.
Zhao Yuanchao advocates respecting the city, respecting civilization, and respecting the times. He proposed that architecture should be studied in the context of the city, with Xi'an as the creative base, exploring the architectural road combined with the ecological environment of the western region. Representative works include Yan'an Grand Theatre, Yangling Convention and Exhibition Center, Shaanxi Provincial Library, Shaanxi Provincial Museum of Natural History, Chanba Ecological District Administrative Center, China Yan'an Cadre College, etc.
Long Hao
Long Hao, graduated from the class of 1986 with a bachelor's degree in architecture, followed by a master's degree in 1993 and a doctorate degree in 2009. He is currently a professor, doctoral supervisor and head of the Department of Architecture at the School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Chongqing University. He is committed to the organic combination of teaching, research and project design and the formation of a virtuous circle, the main research direction is medical architecture, residential architecture, urban renewal design and its theory, published more than 10 monographs, edited and translated books. He was invited to participate in the 17th Venice International Architecture Biennale of China National Pavilion, and his completed works include the Surgical Building of the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, the overall renewal project of Chongqing Fuling Central Hospital, and the second and third phase of the security and crisis reform project of Chongqing No. 1 Middle School.
Huang Jie
Huang Jie, 1982 undergraduate major in architecture, chief architect of Beijing Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd., chairman and chief architect of Beijianyuan Architectural Design (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., director of South China Design Center, professor-level architectural design senior engineer, national first-class registered architect, national registered urban planner. Huang Jie believes that architectural design should have innovative ideas, core technologies, and the spirit of having the courage to challenge difficulties, and integrate them into architectural practice throughout the country and overseas. His representative works include: Beijing Tianqiao Art Center, Wuhan Qintai Grand Theatre, Guangzhou Opera House, Guangzhou Xinhai Revolution Memorial Hall, Zhongshan Ship Museum, Sun Yat-sen University Zhuhai Campus Gymnasium, etc.

Li Xiangbei, a 1983 undergraduate major in architecture, co-founded the Department of Art Design of the College of Humanities and Arts of Chongqing University in 1998, and is an associate professor and master tutor of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts. Director of waca World Association of Chinese Architects, Royal Chartered Architect, founder of XBA Northward Design Agency. He has won the 2011 China Architecture Luban Award, the World Chinese Architect Award Nomination Award, etc., and his representative works include: Chongqing Hongya Cave, Chongqing Lijia Wisdom Park 5G and series venues, Chongqing Construction Industry Building, Jinyu Dacheng Nanshan County, etc.
Chen Ribiao
Chen Ribiao, graduated from the class of 1995 with a bachelor's degree in architecture, is currently working at Hong Kong Huayi Design Consultants (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., serving as Party Secretary, General Manager, Design Director, Professor-level Senior Engineer, First-class Registered Architect and Registered Urban Planner. He has been in the industry for more than 20 years, and has won the titles of "Outstanding Engineering Survey Designer of Guangdong Province" and "Outstanding Entrepreneur of National Survey and Design Industry on the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of New China". At present, he is also an expert of the Urban Construction Group of the Shenzhen Pilot Demonstration Zone Decision-Making Committee, a standing director of the China Survey and Design Association, the vice president of the Guangdong Engineering Survey and Design Industry Association, and the president of the Shenzhen Survey and Design Industry Association.
Chu Dong Bamboo
Chu Dongzhu, graduated from the class of 1994 with a bachelor's degree in architecture, followed by a master's degree and a doctorate degree in architectural design and its theory in 2001 and 2012 respectively. General Manager and Chief Architect of Chongqing Design Institute Co., Ltd., Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of School of Architecture and Urban Planning, Chongqing University, Lab .C. Chu Dongzhu has worked in architectural design work at KPMB Architects in Canada and Clauss en Kaan Architects in the Netherlands; has won awards such as the Young Architect Award of the Architectural Society of China and the Asia Pacific Award of the UIA International Architectural Design Competition; and is committed to the research and design practice of sustainable architectural design theory and methods, high-density urban spatial adaptation mechanism under rail transit intervention, etc. He has presided over or participated in the design of The Christian Church in Jiangbeizui Central Park, Milton City Hall in Ontario, Canada, Lushan Experimental Primary School in Chongqing, Urban Planning Exhibition Hall in Yuxi City, Yunnan, and Zhaotong Museum in Yunnan.
Bo Hongtao
Bo Hongtao, 1993 undergraduate major in architecture, director and chief architect of construction design, china's first-class registered architect, professor-level senior architect, winner of the 9th Young Architect Award of the Architectural Society of China. He has the attention and keen touch of the spirit of the times, consciously excavates the value of culture, and continues to make fruitful practices in the fields of urban renewal and comprehensive urban development. He has presided over or participated in important projects such as the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics West Tenth Winter Olympic Plaza, the Winter Training Center of the State General Administration of Sport, the Shougang Three Blast Furnace Museum and the Global Launch Center, the Beijing Starbucks Winter Olympic Park Store, and the BIG AIR Ski Jump for the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Liu Yi
Liu Yi, 1992 undergraduate landscape architecture major, 1997 master's degree in architectural design and its theory, chief architect of China Architecture Southwest Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. Professor-level senior architect, winner of the Young Architect Award of the Architectural Society of China. He has presided over the design of Chengdu Tianfu Airport, Sichuan Radio and Television Center, Sichuan Provincial Library, Sichuan Tianfu Cultural Center, Chengdu City Concert Hall, Sanxingdui Museum and other projects.
Hou Gems
Hou Baoshi, 1996 undergraduate architecture major, 2001 master's degree in architectural history and theory, studied under the then dean Professor Zhang Xingguo, and is currently the deputy chief architect of the benchmark Fangzhong. Originally from Hebei, but due to the nourishment of the City of Landscape and Water in Chongqing, while adhering to the macro-urban thinking of opening up and merging, it pays attention to the specific landing of mountains and architectural landscape subtleties; at the same time, with the design concept of "from the source to the far", the design inherits and innovates the localization architectural project. Representative works: Chongqing Development Shinkansen, Chongqing Huabang Pharmaceutical Office Building Park, Chongqing Tianjing Mountain Courtyard Villa Design, etc.
