MLB opens a new baseball game mode and takes a new look at a global audience
Former MLB All-Stars and World Series champions all came out and swung their bats
March 30, 2022 - MLB announces that it will launch an exciting new race model, Home Run Derby X, in London, United Kingdom, Seoul, South Korea, and Mexico City, mexico in 2022.
● 9 July - Crystal Palace Park, London
● September 17 - Seoul, exact address to be determined
● October 15 - Mexico City, exact address to be determined
In order to attract more audiences to baseball, create a more dynamic live experience and richer online audiovisual content, and also be inspired by the successful hosting of mlb home runs, Home Run Derby X came into being. Fans will see former Major League All-Stars and World Series champions, including Jonny Gomes, Adrián González, Geo Soto and Nick Swisher, show off their strength on the field.
Home Run Derby X will be held inside a scaled-down version of the baseball field, with home runs placed on a stage and pitcher mounds at the high point of the stage. The competition venue is highly adaptable and flexible, and can be adapted to different venues such as holiday playgrounds or gymnasiums.
The teams will be named after the four teams with the deepest MLB history: the Boston Red Sox, the Chicago Cubs, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the New York Yankees. Each team will be made up of four different categories of contestants: MLB Legends, Superstars, Rookies and Wild Cards. MLB legends are the well-known former MLB players who bring powerful strikes to the team; superstar members are those who are first-rate players from women's softball or women's baseball leagues; rookie members are from promising players in the men's baseball development system and the best in the local baseball system, and are announced as event warm-up information; wild card members will be made up of well-known content creators who will participate in intensive training, gradually evolving from a baseball rookie to a heavy gunner.
While home runs and exciting catches will steal the limelight, Home Run Derby X offers event attendees not just a powerful batting performance, but also music, food, branding, games, and baseball-inspired events. And these elements will also take the event to new heights and bring viewers a baseball experience of a lifetime.
In every game, both offense and defense can bring points to your team. Each batter has 25 hits at a time, and all the batter has to do is try to hit a home run; and as a defender two players defend outside. The batter is credited with one point for each home run, and one point is awarded for each successful goal received by the defender. In home run derby X competitions, inspired by those video games, there are other ways to score points. There will be special targets in the infield area as well as above the fence, and hitting these targets will count as "precision strikes" and score. Each batter also has a "hot hand" chance — five consecutive home runs or "precision strikes" are doubled, but the opposing defender's catch score is also doubled.
In each event, the four teams will play in groups. Based on their results in each game, they were finally ranked on the Home Run Derby X Tour leaderboards with accumulated points. This leaderboard will be used to determine which teams will be seeded in the final leg of the tour. The final tournament of the tour will also be played in the form of a knockout round, and this time the final Home Run Derby X Tour champion team will be decided.
