As an important venue for China to host the Asian Cup in 2023, the new sports body will install the world's top turf system and a steel structure dome with six functions. At the end of this year, the 63-year-old stadium will continue to be a "capital landmark" with a new look.
The huge steel dome canopy has been straddled above the stadium, and the "grandstand bowl" structure under the canopy can give the audience a wider view. Li Xiajie, deputy project manager of Beijing Construction Engineering Group, said: "The total steel consumption of steel structure canopy is about 16,400 tons, and the maximum height of installation is 46 meters. The canopy has been given 6 functions, namely shading, lighting, water supply and drainage, snow melting, photovoltaic power generation and noise reduction. ”
The revamped stadium will host the 2023 Asian Cup football competition and transform it into a professional football field. Zhao Lei, head of the municipal major project renovation and rehabilitation project, said: "Since the construction of the workers' stadium renovation and rehabilitation project began in August 2020, the construction of the steel structure canopy has been completed so far, and the main shape of the entire stadium has been unveiled, and the façade construction is planned to be completed at the end of June, and the acceptance and delivery on December 9 will be completed on schedule. After completion, this stadium will also become the first world-class professional football stadium in the capital and the first in China. ”
It is understood that the new workers' stadium will be centered on the fan viewing and set the north stand as a hardcore fan stand, which is expected to accommodate 15,000 people. Both the national team and the club can get the biggest support belonging to the home team in the new workers' sports.
