"You are the blossom of a tree,
It's The swallow, whispering between the beams,
You are love, you are warmth, you are hope,
You are a April day on earth."
People always feel romantic about April, because the trees are full of flowers and the scenery is pleasant. But April is also a pity, regretting that I could not go to the appointment gladly when it was in full bloom, and regretting that I could not retain this fleeting beauty. Of course, romance and regret are not in conflict, even if sometimes negative and helpless, but when the light shines into the room, you must also look forward to the arrival of warmth.

Xia Xiaotang at a concert with the Beijing Symphony Orchestra
15 April at 19:30
On April 15, conductor Xia Xiaotang will join hands with cellist Zhu Mu to present a concert of classic works with the Beijing Symphony Orchestra. The concert opens with a prelude to Verdi's opera The Force of Destiny, an opera overture that breaks away from tradition in terms of melodic logic, and the musical themes of the characters in the play are interlaced in the overture, highly summarizing the content of the play. Then, cellist Zhu Mu will work with the orchestra to present Saint-Saôn's No. 1 Cello Concerto in A minor, which was composed in 1872 and is fascinating with its straightforward expression and simple technique, neither flashy nor pedantic, reflecting the talent and skill of the composer.
In the second half, Xia Xiaotang will conduct the orchestra to play Rimsky-Korsakov's "Heavenly Nights", also known as "Shehlachad", based on the famous collection of Arabic folk tales of the same name. The composer served as an officer in the Tsarist Navy, so he wandered the world and had a wealth of experience in middle age, and the inspiration for "Heavenly Nights" came from his yearning for oriental myths and legends.
