The Apple Self-Service Repair Tool Rental Kit contains all the tools needed to repair an iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 series model and a third-generation iPhone SE, and the repair case weighs 79 pounds (about 71.69 pounds). To rent these two boxes, you need to pay a rent of $49 (about 324.87 yuan) and a deposit of $1272 (about 8433.36 yuan).

Appleinsider, a foreign website, got a rental kit of Apple's self-service repair tools, including two large Pelican brand boxes.

Open the first box – the smaller of the two boxes, which contains a heater to loosen the adhesive that holds the display in place, and connected to the heated display removal device is the necessary power cord and a hot bag tray.

IT Home learned that the hot bag tray clamped the phone with a metal edge, and then slid the phone into the display to disassemble the device. It intelligently heats your iPhone to a specified temperature, precisely heating up for a certain amount of time to weaken the adhesive.

Display heater

A suction cup is fixed to the display, and when the knob on it is turned, it slowly applies pressure to pull the display panel out. Once separated, the included tools can be used to clean up the remaining adhesive.

The second box contains much more components, the larger of the two boxes. Inside there is its own return label and security label, and all the tools next to it. This box also has a guide that shows the location of each tool and what they are.

There were two small boxes filled with screwdrivers, display covers, suction cups and a plastic shovel. Then there are two large devices – a monitor tablet press and a battery tablet press, and a tray where they are placed.

Small repair parts

During many repairs, the user uses the display press several times. The phone will be placed in a tray dedicated to the device and slid under the press.

The first use will be to apply glue. During the reassembly process, glue is deposited on the phone and a metal plate is placed on it. The tray is then inserted into the press and a lever is pulled.

Once the lever is pulled, the countdown starts at 30 before a harsh beep at zero, and the knob on the left must be pulled out to release the lever. After applying the glue, the user installs the display components. As soon as it's properly connected and placed, iPhone represses the display to hold it in place.

Without this tool, the adhesive may not be as reliable, which may cause the display component to come out or cause its water resistance to be affected.

Battery tablet press

A battery tablet press is a very niche device that is used when replacing batteries. Start by installing a new battery with a new adhesive underneath. Then plug the phone into the battery tablet press, pull down the lever on top, and put down a rubber roller on top of the new battery. The user then swipes the phone back and forth several times to secure the battery in place.

This tool applies a continuous, uniform pressure to the battery while ensuring that it is not damaged.
