【Wuxuan Memory】The past of the Eight Immortals Ridge

There is a legendary, feng shui treasure land on the Eight Immortals Ridge;

The mangy mountains are nostalgic, and the long years are cherished.

Eight Immortals Ridge, located on the left bank of the Qianjiang River in Huangmao, Wuxuan County, part of the mountainous area is under the jurisdiction of the Zhou family villagers committee. The Eight Immortals Ridge is surrounded by mountains, surrounded by mountains and water, and has excellent feng shui, and is the ancestral land of the Ming Dynasty Wuxuan celebrity Chen Shi.

Eight Immortals Ridge has a well-known Eight Immortals Temple, every year on the fifth and sixth day of the first month of the eighth month of the lunar calendar, the flow of people going up the mountain to enter the temple is continuous, the incense is in full bloom, and the smoke is surrounded by fog.

The Eight Immortals Temple, according to legend, was built during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, and then through generations of continuous maintenance and repair, with the passage of time, the Eight Immortals Temple we see today was expanded and perfected by the inheritor Guo Xiulian in 2016.

From February 1969 to February 1971 in the 20th century, I joined the Zhou Family Village of the Zhou Family Brigade and crossed paths with the Eight Immortals Ridge twice.

The first time, I went to the Eight Immortals Ridge to herd cattle.

This time the cattle herding, I was very uncomfortable. At that time, because I accidentally injured the surface of my right foot, and I was inflamed and red, I could not follow other members to work in the water, at that time, the Xianyu Rock water source in Lingkou was abundant, and the shangling xiatian labor had to pass through several low-concave water collection depressions, such as the foot surface was flooded, which was very easy to aggravate the pain. To this end, the captain Huang Taijia said that he arranged for me to do light labor and go to The Eight Immortals Ridge to herd cattle. On that day, I single-handedly drove a whole production team of 17 cattle with male and female, pulling carts and ploughing the ground with different speeds and paces, and set out for the Eight Immortals Ridge Ranch, including a cow with two heads that I used to pull a cart, who was afraid of whipping and not slapping the stick, and who moved slowly and called "old farmers". When passing through the fields where rice was blooming on both sides, the gluttonous cattle quickly rushed to the front to steal the seedlings, but the cattle in the back walked slowly, and the fields were narrow, and I squeezed to the front to drive away the cattle that stole the seedlings, and the slow cattle in the back saw that I was not around, and took the opportunity to steal the seedlings on both sides, so that I could not take care of the front and back, and rushed back and forth. Halfway through a paddy field with water, two cows went down to the field to steal seedlings, I was injured on my feet, I could not catch up with the nearest field, I could only go around the field foundation and drive away, I had not yet arrived, they ran around the seedlings, so that the seedlings were damaged, and I was even more busy, tired of running, light work into tired and hard work. Finally arrived at the Eight Immortals Ridge Pasture, where the grass is long and wide, and the whereabouts of the cattle are clear at a glance, I can appreciate the ease and ease of herding cattle. The next day, I told Captain Huang not to herd cattle anymore.

At that time, every household had one or two large grass piles, using firewood and grass as a living energy source, and in winter, it was necessary to go to the Eight Immortals Ridge, where there was a lot of grass and firewood, to prepare firewood for next year.

One day in the early winter of 1969, the sun was shining, coinciding with the Huangmao Street Polder Day, I walked alone for more than 1 hour to cut the grass in the Eight Immortals Ridge, and it was difficult to climb up the mountainside, at this time the Eight Immortals Ridge was unusually silent, and there was no one around. I looked at Huangmaowei in the distance, where it seemed that the people were boiling and bustling, and the acquaintances had all gone to rush to the Wei, but I came to the desolate Eight Immortals Ridge to cut the grass alone, thinking of my father's just passed away", "See: [Wuxuan Memory] Zhou Family's Time in Line (Part 1)", and now it is lonely and unbearable, and infinite sadness comes to my heart! At this moment, where am I in the mood to mow the grass? So I cut two bales of grass haphazardly, bundled them up and rolled them down the hill, and carried them back.

Later, I followed others to BaxianLing, and finally cut a ox cart of grass, spread it out and dried it, first tied it on the mountain, then rolled down the hill from the rolling grass slide, and finally, loaded the ox cart and pulled it home.

In the mid-1990s, the county Liufeng Mountain Forest Farm contracted the Eight Immortals Ridge to plant eucalyptus trees, and the county mobilized the staff of the organs and units to help, and I also went with the staff of the unit to dig up the ridges and plant trees.

In the late 1990s, people found and mined grass and flower stones in BaxianLing, later known as Chinese painting stones, with the spread and increasing scarcity of Chinese painting stones, Boguan Village, Ertang Town, on the side of Highway 209 National Highway, has become the famous hometown of Chinese chinese painting stones.

In that year, I accompanied the director of the land bureau to the Eight Immortals Ridge, and there were a lot of rough piles under the mountain. On the way back, we visited the Stone Museum of Boguan Village in Ertang Town, and I spent 100 yuan to buy two Chinese painting stones, one of which was a Chinese painting stone with a full moon pattern. Later, Liuzhou's elder brother gave me a Chinese painting stone.

At the beginning of April 2021, I went to Boguan Village in Ertang Town to interview Huang Riling, the boss of the HongyiGe Chinese Painting Stone Museum, and when I left, Boss Huang sent me a piece of Chinese painting stone with different patterns on both sides, and after I returned, I wrote the article "Immortal City Memory" Wuxuan Guohua Stone (top) and (bottom) reprinted in [Visual Wuxuan] and [Tencent News], and later, the article was reprinted in [Today's Headlines], making a small contribution to the promotion of Wuxuan's beautiful Chinese painting stone.
