On 12 May, the Finnish government abruptly made a decision against its ancestors: Finland should urgently submit its application to join NATO.
As we all know, there is a model of neutrality in international political relations called "Finnishization", which means that a relatively weak country must not challenge, join, or provoke the decision of a powerful neighbor while maintaining its national sovereignty. For example, at the most intense moment of the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union, Finland never chose to take sides between NATO and the Warsaw Pact; after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the countries of Eastern Europe threw themselves into the arms of the West, and even more denigrated the original old suzerainty, the Soviet Union, only Finland, which not only maintained neutrality, but also signed the Treaty of Basic Relations between Russia and Finland with Russia.
Logically, who maintains good relations with Russia is the thorn in the side of the Western world, but Finland is an exception, first of all, it has no great power genes, can not threaten the Western world, so Europe and the United States do not care about its intentions; but it and Russia have a 1300-kilometer border line, and close to Russia's second largest city St. Petersburg (Leningrad), the geographical location is extremely important, so for Europe and the United States, Finland is equivalent to chicken ribs, tasteless, abandoned pity;
But it is precisely because Finland insists on not defecting to any side, but on the contrary, any side is trying to win it over, so over the years, it has mixed quite well, and the names of "happiest country", "welfare society" and "democracy" have gained a lot. All in all, compared with Ukraine, which was engaged by the color revolution and fought with Russia in order to join NATO, Finland already belongs to the "excellent player in international politics", but why does this excellent player suddenly "IQ offline", why would he choose to provoke Russia to join NATO?
In fact, if we look closely, we will find that Finland and Russia are somewhat similar to Japan and China. When China is strong and unified, Japan will behave very obediently, very obediently, even if you let him call you daddy, he will willingly call you daddy, and this feeling is from the heart, without impurities, this is Japan's "big thing", refer to the current Attitude of Japan to the United States to know!
But whether it is the United States or China, as long as Japan finds that you big powers are an empty shell, strong in the outside world, and useless, it will immediately jump up and bite you fiercely, and the Sino-Japanese War is a vivid example.
Back to Finland, the more representative war is the Soviet-Finnish War. In 1939, the Soviet Union was at the peak of its national strength, and the whole of Western Europe almost smelled the Soviet Union, so when the Soviet Union sent 1.2 million troops to attack Finland, everyone thought that Finland was doomed, and as a result, Finland was not afraid, and at the critical moment, the whole people mobilized to fight against the Soviet Army, and the result was not only to block the Soviet Union with 200,000 troops, but also to make the Soviet Union pay the price of 370,000 military casualties in a short period of time. In exchange for the lives of 10 Soviet soldiers. Therefore, although the victor of the Soviet-Finnish War was the Soviet Union, it was also Finland's "founding war". It was this war that made the Finns understand that before they were insufficient, they must not go to war with the great powers, and they must adhere to the principle of neutrality, so this principle was successfully implemented for more than 70 years, until the russo-Ukrainian War came!
In fact, before the outbreak of the Russo-Ukrainian War, Finland was very afraid of the combat effectiveness of the Russian army, and not only Finland, but even Chinese thought that against Ukraine, a small country with a projectile, the Russian army must have packed him up in a month to obey, and as a result, 80 days have passed, Russia has not been able to completely deal with Ukraine, although it still maintains a progressive posture in the front-line battlefield, but the relatively crotch-pulling war situation makes Finland have formed a contempt for the combat effectiveness of the Russian army. This contempt escalated into Finland's overall contempt for Russia.
Since Russia has fought so hard to fight Ukraine, then I Finland today unloaded its disguise and thrown itself into the arms of the West, what can you Russia do to me?
So Finland wants to join NATO, I think it can be linked to South Korea's accession to the NATO network organization, Russia and China, as big countries, must have the ability to "not shoot, shoot must be clean", first of all, "fight a punch", in order to "avoid a hundred punches", if "a punch is not opened", it will definitely "a hundred punches come", this is the cruel survival law of a big country!
Now that the Russo-Ukrainian War has reached a critical moment, the whole Western world is constantly betting wildly, and although the balance of victory has not yet tilted, every time at such a moment, the weight of an ant can greatly increase the chip of victory, and Finland's status has also been upgraded from the original "chicken rib" to "that ant". Before the Russo-Ukrainian War, the border line between NATO countries and Russia was only 650 kilometers, but if you add Finland's 1300 kilometers, then Russia will have a long border line of 1950 kilometers exposed to the enemy's vision, let's not say how the Russian army defends such a long border line, just the NATO countries in Finland, Ukraine and other places to deploy some medium-range missiles, it is enough for Moscow to fidget day and night.
Once Finland has completed the anti-water, then well, once there is a war, Russia may face the two directions of Eastern Europe at any time, the long border line of 1950 kilometers from time to time, and will also be in the Eastern Region of the Bering Strait under special care of the United States, in other words, Russia may fall into the desperate situation of three-front operations at any time.
What's more, Russia's second largest city, St. Petersburg, formerly known as Leningrad, is next to Finland and the Gulf of Finland, where the famous Leningrad Defense War took place.
There were two reasons why the defense of Leningrad was fought so badly in that year: First, although the land of the Soviet Union was vast, the Soviets had almost no way to retreat except Leningrad and Moscow. Looking at the map, we can see that in addition to the Section of the Southern Russian Steppe next to Ukraine and Georgia in the Soviet Union, which is suitable for human life, other areas are basically in the Arctic Circle, which belongs to the bitter cold land, and the temperature is below 0 degrees all year round, which is not suitable for crop survival at all, and naturally it is not suitable for human beings. Therefore, any country that wants to fundamentally crush the Soviet Union can only crush Leningrad and Moscow. Both the Soviets and Germans understood this truth, which is why the battle for Leningrad was so fierce;
Second, the Soviet-Finnish War took place in 1939, the Soviet-German War (World War II) took place in 1941, when the Finns heard that the Germans were going to fight the Soviet Union, it was a night of revelry, and finally someone avenged me with an arrow, so they welcomed the German army, not only allowing the German army to attack Leningrad through Finland, but also personally sending troops to respond to the German attack, so that the Soviet Union was simply Alexander, because Finland surrounded leningrad to the north, and the German army surrounded Leningrad to the south. The link between Leningrad and the Gulf of Finland was completely severed, and all maritime support was eliminated.
In that war, Leningrad was besieged for 872 days, all the supplies from the outside world could not be sent in, the Soviet Red Army had to rely on eating rats, nibbling on tree bark, and even eating excrement to the end, the Soviet Red Army lost 1.33 million people in this battle, most of them fought to the end, ran out of ammunition, weak, did not need the German army to move, hunger is the biggest death harvester, according to statistics, Leningrad alone starved to death of 1.55 million civilians, which shows how important the wartime supply line is!
It is precisely based on the Leningrad defense war that we have more reason to worry about the safety of St. Petersburg, and not only St. Petersburg, although the Gulf of Finland is nominally Russia's outlet to the sea in Eastern Europe, but as long as Finland is unwilling, Russia cannot go out here, Russia's Baltic Fleet, its supplies mainly rely on St. Petersburg, the supply transportation route mainly depends on the Gulf of Finland, once the Gulf of Finland is cut off, then the Baltic Fleet is equivalent to a tiger with its teeth pulled out, not only can not form a mutual protection trend with Leningrad. There is also the possibility of total annihilation, further accelerating the collapse of the Russian naval system, so for Russia, the Gulf of Finland cannot be lost, and Finland cannot join NATO, because Finland's anti-water is more serious than Ukraine's anti-water. In other words, once the situation is out of control, Putin would rather wipe Finland off the map and then slowly clean up disobedient Ukraine!
But the question is, Russia is playing a Ukrainian is so crotch-pulling, is Putin really confident that he can clean up Finland in a short period of time? It is estimated that Finland also thinks like this, but let's not forget that Russia has nuclear weapons, and the reason why it does not use nuclear weapons shows that the overall situation is still controllable, and once Finland really makes the war situation uncontrollable, then whether Putin's "nuclear threat" will become a "nuclear strike" is another matter.
At the end of the video, I still want to remind Finland to be sober-minded, as an "international player", we must remember history, and persuade our people to remember history, because the facts of history tell us that those countries that have forgotten the lessons of history usually end badly.
