According to a number of Hong Kong media reports on May 31, the famous Hong Kong restaurant Jumbo Seafood Boat had a serious accident at 11 o'clock that night, and the kitchen boat next to the main ship capsized, and the hull collapsed nearly 90 degrees and lay on the water. Previously a large local floating restaurant, Jumbo Seafood Restaurant has become a landmark in Hong Kong due to its large scale and unique shape, and has also been the filming location of many famous films. In March 2020, due to multiple reasons such as the epidemic, Jumbo Seafood Wasting announced its closure due to continuous losses, and after the transformation and search for new investors were fruitless, it planned to move out of Hong Kong in June this year when the maritime license expired.
However, on the evening of May 31, a serious water intrusion occurred in the kitchen boat next to the main vessel of the Jumbo Seafood Boat, followed by a tilt. The operating company Aberdeen Catering Group confirmed that no one was injured in the incident, but the details of the cause of the accident are not clear. It is reported that the galley vessel also passed the annual inspection of the Hong Kong Maritime Department in mid-April.
It is worth mentioning that shortly after the incident, some media released a picture of the "main ship of the Jumbo Seafood Boat overturned", but according to the Global Times, this photo is a picture of the artistic creation of a Hong Kong photographer in 2020, not a map of the scene of the accident.
