The gray-spotted plover flies with white wing stripes and white wings, and the black axillary feathers are black at the base of the white lower wings. Robust wading birds of large size. The beak is shorter and thicker than the golden-spotted crane, the head and mouth are larger, the upper body is brownish gray, the lower body is white when flying, and the black axillary feathers form black patches at the white base.

During the breeding season, the male has a black underparts that resemble a golden-spotted falcon, but the upper body is more silvery and white under the tail.

Habits of life

Gray spots inhabit coastal coasts, sandbars, estuaries, rivers and lakes during winter and migration; Particularly loved the tidal flats on the seafront. It is also found in swamps , ponds , meadows , rice paddies and farmland. In summer, it mainly inhabits the Arctic tundra and the vicinity of the Arctic coast. They often move in small groups, and large groups are often integrated during migration and wintering. Timid and alert, flying far away when seen, not easy to approach, flying powerfully and quickly. It feeds mainly on aquatic insects, shrimp, snails, crabs, worms, beetles and molluscs.
