Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel said his aim is to bring in further reinforcements in this transfer window to help the Blues reach "new levels". Tuchel has repeatedly insisted Chelsea are in a state of transition after Todd Boley's acquisition of the club but does not want to compromise on expectations.
After Saturday's 1-0 win over Everton, Tuchel revealed in an interview with Sky Sports that the West Londoners are still looking to bring in more players this month. "If we can increase, we will increase. Maybe not necessarily a midfielder as the first choice, but we're open to everything and I think we can use the new energy, the new legs and the new input to take us to the next level," he said.
"If not, then we will push this team, but I think we can use some input and higher quality. We're working on it, but we won't tell you! Summer signings Kalidu Koulibaly and Raheem Sterling made their debut in a win at Goodison Park, although the former failed to hold out for a full 90 minutes and was dragged away due to cramps.
Only Chelsea's Mark Cuculella completed his transfer to Stamford Bridge on Friday, but came off the bench. Speaking about Chelsea's rookie, Tuchel said: "Koulibaly struggled with his physical qualities because he (pre-season) came late and lacked a little training. "Raheem was very strong and ended up struggling physically. I'm very happy with Cuculella's 20 minutes. It's very strong and very important for us. ”
