Foreword: Roe deer shovel (also known as staghorn ghost shovel) is a rare species of spade beetle genus, belonging to the typical single species (roe deer spade genus), before the world only capreolucanus sicardi ( one species , the species contains 3 subspecies ( formerly known as subspecies, Thai subspecies, Myanmar subspecies ), males are only 14.3 to 19.4 mm long, mainly distributed in Yunnan, Tibet (Metuo) and Thailand, northern Vietnam and northern Myanmar and other regions of China.
However, starting this month, the situation of a single species of the genus will be broken, and the genus will welcome a second new member: Capreolucanus zhuchuangi Wang (2020, Chinese name derived from the specimen provider "Zhu Chuang"). The new species was published by the Chinese scholar "Lao Wang" in the 22nd issue of Beetles World, which is the second new species of spade nails after Lao Wang published the Dorcus tianlongi Wang & Zhou (2019) in 2019, which is produced in Yunnan.
Capreolucanus zhuchuangi
Since Beetles World has not yet officially announced the content of the 22nd issue, we directly quote the relevant content on the Lao Wang public account here.
From the photos provided by the literature, there are obvious differences in the external characteristics of the Zhu Chuang roe deer shovel and the roe deer shovel, and the almost symmetrical yellow-brown markings on the left and right sides of the dorsal plate of the front chest and the markings on the leg segments of the six limbs are very conspicuous.
