In 1998, Japanese manga artist Yuhiko Inoue began serializing "Wanderer" in Kodansha's manga magazine, which is based on Yoshikawa Eiji's novel "Miyamoto Musashi", Yoshikawa Eiji's novel was created in August 1935, and was adapted again after 60 years, some people think that "Ronin" adaptation is very good, but others feel that the original book has many differences from the manga.
How is fiction different from comics? Let's just briefly talk about a few differences, as a brick to introduce jade, let everyone taste taste, and listen to the story.
Novel "Miyamoto Musashi"
Yoshikawa Eiji's "Miyamoto Musashi" novel was written in the 30s of the last century and took 4 years to complete, which was very popular at that time, because the protagonist of "Miyamoto Musashi" Musashi was originally just a farmer, but with the belief of "sword Zen as one", he practiced kendo, and finally achieved the right result and became a famous master.
It is said that in the 40s, a family in Japan wanted to commit suicide because they couldn't survive, but after seeing the novel "Miyamoto Musashi", he felt that Musashi was so bitter and able to persevere, let alone himself, so he gave up the idea of suicide.
After 60 years, the environment when the popularity of the novel "Miyamoto Musashi" was high and Inoue Yuhiko was no longer the same as when he created the "Wanderer" manga, and Inoue's drawing skills are of course obvious to all, but in terms of plot arrangement, let's see how Inoue Yuhiko's adaptation differs from the original.
1. The fallen aristocratic Musashi
Musashi's origin and family background are not written in "Wanderer", but it is recorded in detail in the novel "Miyamoto Musashi", which is why Inoue Yuhiko drew "Wanderer".
Musashi's father used to be a swordsmanship instructor in the samurai family and was given the surname Shinji, and then after his father's death, the family's fortune declined, Musashi's parents were at odds, and shortly after Musashi's birth, Musashi's father sent Musashi's mother away, which was equivalent to quitting marriage.
After that, Musashi's mother married a samurai and gave birth to a child, and it is recorded in the novel that Musashi once walked to the village where his mother lived to find his mother when he was 9 years old, and he originally wanted to say a few words to his mother, but he was prevaricated by his mother and driven out, and there was no mother-son friendship at all.
And his father Shinbu knew that Musashi went to see his mother, and he was furious, threatening to sever the father-son relationship if Musashi dared to find his mother by himself, so Musashi began to have a violent tendency every day, and when he was 13 years old, a samurai in a nearby village set up a stall to compete, and as a result, Musashi killed the other party on the spot, causing a sensation in the village.
As an adult, Musashi coincided with the Battle of Sekigahara, which was fought against Tokugawa Ieyasu and Toyotomi Hideyoshi's heavy minister Ishida Mitsunari, and Musashi's father was given the surname Shinju when he was given the main family of Ishida Mitsunari, so Musashi called his friend Kamimura and joined the battle.
The beginning of the manga is the Battle of Sekigahara, but Musashi's origin has not been described much before, and it has changed significantly.
Then let's talk about the motivation of Inoue Yuhiko to draw "Wanderer", because they have the same situation, which resonates, Inoue left his father at a very young age, and went from Tokyo to his hometown with his mother to live until he returned to Tokyo as a manga artist, so Musashi's mood, Inoue can understand more or less.
2. Musashi and Yuhachi in the Battle of Sekigahara
In the novel, after the Battle of Sekigahara, Musashi and Ahachi escape from the battlefield to the home of a woman named Ajia after Ishida Mitsunari's defeat, and then during Musashi's battle with the bandit Norima, Ajia and Azuhachi elope together.
There are two adaptations of the description in this manga, one is that in the novel, Musashi and Yuhachi do not meet samurai, and both are very down, eating weeds for a living while walking, Musashi's stomach is uncomfortable, and Hachi has a stomach, and they even want to give up and are caught by each other.
Another change is Ah Jia, A Jia is the cottage lady of the local bandit leader, but the bandit fire and his man was killed by Dianma, there is a 15-year-old daughter, is a famous local widow, because of her special status, no one dares to provoke her, usually sells fire wool for a living, when there is a battle, let her daughter Azhu sweep the battlefield, pick up leaks and make a fortune.
Why did Musashi pull another hachi to the Battle of Sekigahara? Because the Musashi family is a famous samurai in Miyamoto Village, many people in this village used to be his family's servants, Musashi actually can't look at it in his heart, and the eight families are townspeople, and they are the only small nobles in the village who can equal the status of Musashi, so the two young people want to make a contribution.
At this time, Musashi's father's main family was actually very stingy, and when they saw Musashi and Yahachigo, they actually played with their lives, did not give them weapons at all, equivalent to the treatment of servants, and then were also used as sentries to spy on the enemy, so when the battle took place, they were far from the main battlefield, so they survived.
Why did he elope with the widow Ajia? The description of Youhachi in the manga is too extreme, making him useless, and the description of the novel is more in line with human nature.
It is also written for another eight names, because he was wanted after losing a battle in Sekigahara, and he could not return to the village to live, which is one of them; Second, Musashi and Yuhachi killed Norima but did not kill them all, and let go of a few people, and there were about a hundred and ten other bandits, and Aka knew that the bandits were distincts and had to escape, but his orphan and widow wanted a man to protect her.
Ah Jia originally wanted to rely on his posture and means to let two men revolve around him, praising this for a while, and appeasing that one for a while, but Musashi was a straight man, and he reminded that Yuhachi was already a person with a marriage contract, but under the instigation of a woman with posture and means like Ajia, it was difficult for him to resist.
Aka and Yuhachi are not as temporary emotional as in the manga, but after the vague temptation of Musashi is ineffective, they fled with the three of Aju late at night, and staying here will definitely be sought by bandits.
In the end, after Aka and Youhachi eloped, they wrote a letter of resignation to Atong in Miyamoto Village, asking her to give up this marriage, which can be regarded as a good beginning and end, after all, the two are not married.
3. Musashi's path of swordsmanship
In the original novel, Musashi embarked on the road of swordsmanship can be said to be forced to helpless, wanted to get ahead but bet on the wrong treasure, became a wanted criminal, his friend eloped with someone, and he got into trouble with bandits, but after thinking about it, he decided to return to Miyamoto Village.
But in Miyamoto Village, two more things happened that made him destroy his mind, the first is that the mother of Tamashi and the officers and soldiers depicted in the manga colluded to trap Musashi, who was already cornered, and when his friend Yuhachi's mother brought food to Musashi, the original words in the novel were that Musashi shed tears of gratitude, but then Tamato's mother attracted the pursuers.
Musashi experienced great joy and sorrow, and his mind was greatly stimulated, and a detail was actually omitted from the manga, that is, Musashi's own sister was beaten and kicked by officers and soldiers and imprisoned was also the idea of Ohchi's mother.
The officers and soldiers not only bullied Musashi's sister, but also did not let go of Yahachi's fiancée, and a samurai hugged Atong at night and wanted to be rude, but was rescued by Musashi.
Faced with this unsurvivable situation, Musashi had an epiphany that if you want to survive in this cannibalistic world, you can only become stronger, if you don't eat people, people will eat you. The way of swordsmanship is a path from which there is no turning back, and if you fail once in a competition, you will lose your opponent.
Although the comics are wonderful, they are always limited by the space, and friends who have watched "Wanderer" will feel that they are not too enjoyable, and make up one or two details as a brick and mortar.
