author:Guangzhou Daily

On October 23, the three-day Guangdong Provincial Industrial Robot Technology Application Skills Competition and the 2021 National Industrial and Information Technology Skills Competition (Industrial Robot Technology Application) Guangdong Provincial Selection Competition (hereinafter referred to as the Competition) jointly sponsored by the Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, the Department of Human Resources and Social Security, the Department of Education, the Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, the Provincial Youth League and other units were held in Lingnan First Technician College of Industry and Commerce in Guangdong Province. A total of 56 teams participated in the competition, competing for the qualification to represent Guangdong Province in the national finals.

Zhuang Lecong, second-level inspector of the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangdong Province, introduced that in recent years, Guangdong has successively issued a series of policy measures such as "Guangdong Intelligent Manufacturing Development Plan (2015-2025)" and "Guangdong Province's Action Plan for Cultivating Intelligent Robot Strategic Emerging Industry Clusters (2021-2025)", established a provincial intelligent robot strategic emerging industry cluster service work class, and formulated and established a provincial intelligent robot strategic emerging industry cluster linkage coordination promotion mechanism. Under the impetus of relevant policies, the development of the robot industry chain in Guangdong has been gradually improved, and some key links in the industrial chain have been replaced by domestic production. In 2020, the overall output of industrial robots in Guangdong Province was 70,400 units (sets), accounting for 29.7% of the national output, an increase of 13.9 percentage points over 2017 (15.8%), and the output of industrial robots in Guangdong has jumped to the first place in the country.

However, there are still some problems in the robot industry in Guangdong Province that cannot be ignored, which are manifested in the high dependence of some core technologies, basic common technologies and key components, poor stability and consistency of products, lack of well-known brands, and weak ability to participate in international competition. In the final analysis, the total number of skilled talents required for industrial development is insufficient, high-end and leading talents are lacking, and compound and skilled talents are lacking. Holding an industrial robot technology application skills competition is not only an important measure to implement the construction and deployment of a strong manufacturing province and accelerate the development of the intelligent robot industry cluster, but also an important embodiment of the implementation of people-oriented and talent-driven strategies. Through the promotion of production by race, the promotion of learning by race, and the promotion of research by race, we will promote the construction of high-skilled talents in the robot industry.

It is reported that a total of 56 teams from 40 enterprises and colleges have signed up to participate in this competition, and two teams of players from the staff group, the teacher group and the student group will be selected to represent Guangdong Province in the final of the National Industrial and Information Technology Skills Competition held in Shenzhen in November.
