The most typical of these is that in July 2018, the relevant departments of the United States suddenly announced to the outside world that they would increase tariffs on goods worth more than $200 billion in China.
At the beginning, in line with the principle of peaceful coexistence, China conducted many communications and consultations with the United States, but none of them received a positive response and results. There is no way, and china can only finally sue the World Trade Organization directly for this violation of the law and the violation of world trade rules. In the more than two years since then, the United States has stepped up its efforts to include many of its foreign enterprises in its so-called entity list. Even in the case of a sharp decline in the economy this year due to various factors on its own soil, the United States has not eased its sanctions against our country. Fortunately, on September 15 of this year, the World Trade Organization officially responded to China's appeal two years ago.
They found that the United States violated the relevant regulations and obligations of the WTO, that is, the United States violated the law by raising taxes on our 200 billion valuable goods. For this ruling, China's Ministry of Commerce obviously supported it, and immediately responded, saying that the WTO made a decision that was both objective and fair, and further emphasizing that China will support the WTO in playing its leading role in world trade. At the same time, China will also be committed to maintaining the multilateral trading system that is currently common in the world. Finally, I also hope that the United States will have a clear understanding of the current general trend in the world, not obstinately act alone, take effective actions as soon as possible, improve relations with China, the WTO and other world organizations, and jointly promote the development of the world economy.
However, for this ruling of the WTO, everyone should not be too optimistic. Because to some extent, all the rules and organizations under the current world order are dominated or participated in by the United States. At the same time, the United States is still the only superpower in the world, so like those rules and regulations, as well as the direction of action of all world organizations, if it is not in line with the wishes of the United States, then it will definitely fully support it. But if, as it is now, does not cooperate with the United States' sanctions against countries that are not satisfied with the world, especially against our country, then these organizations will be boycotted by the United States and eventually withdraw from the group. Even if they rule that the U.S. is illegal, as long as the U.S. does not comply, there is ultimately nothing they can do.
In this WTO ruling, the United States, just like the PREVIOUS WHO, expressed its disapproval of such a ruling on the one hand, and on the other hand, it groundlessly accused the WTO of accepting China's bribery behind its back. But at the same time, we should tell everyone not to be too pessimistic about the current world order. The reason why the World Trade Organization and who are able to stick to themselves in this year's environment and not follow the wishes of the United States to change their action policies at will shows that they still want to assume the responsibilities of the world organization.
In particular, the WTO ruling this time will give a positive signal to other countries in the world: Although the United States wants a monopoly, these world organizations will not blindly let the United States do whatever it wants. But this also tells us a truth, if you want to grow up under the eyes of these Western countries today, try to cooperate with them, or expect them to give our country living space, it is completely unrealistic. Again, give up the illusion, face the reality, and develop yourself down-to-earth first. After our strength has grown to a certain extent, there will be no need to worry about the United States to impose any restraint on our country.
