Scientists in Mumbai, India, have recently discovered a new species of spider, only 7 mm long, and their appearance is very similar to the shape of the classification hat in Harry Potter, so that scientists who are also fans of magic decided to name it "Greifendo".
The new species of spider is found in the "Western Ghats" in the southern Indian state of Karnataka, and was discovered by three naturalists, including Ahmed, Kalappa and Jawagor, and scientists say that the shape of the spider's pointed hat helps to blend into dead leaves during the day to avoid being detected by predators.
The origin of the scientific name "Greyfly Polygonal Round Spider" comes from the classification hat in the well-known novel "Harry Potter", in which all Hogwarts freshmen have to rely on this hat to help assign the academy when they enter the school, and this hat was originally from the wizard High Cone Ke Ge Lai Many, which will be named after it.
Ahmed said he was a Harry Potter fan and was so excited to discover the spider that his appearance immediately reminded him of the sorting cap, hoping that tiny creatures inspired by magic would draw attention to the often overlooked small worlds and secret lives.
