At present, it is the peak season of snail production, Quanzhou Municipal Bureau of Oceanography and Fisheries reminds the general public that eating textured snails is very easy to lead to food poisoning, and do not eat textured snails when eating out to avoid accidents.
According to the relevant people of the Municipal Bureau of Oceanography and Fisheries, the weaved snail is commonly known as the sea snail, wheat snail or white snail, which resembles a cone, is similar in size to the nail cover, and generally lives on the bottom of offshore reefs or sediment. There are many kinds of weave snails, and even professionals can hardly distinguish them all. In recent years, snail poisoning incidents have occurred from time to time in China's coastal areas. Although not all types of snails contain high toxicity, the risk of eating snails is still very high, and there is no specific treatment and detoxification drug after poisoning, and the mortality rate is extremely high.
There are 9 common species of weaved snails along the coast of Fujian, most of which have been reported to be poisonous. From April to September every year, it is the flood season of the texture snail, and it is also the time when its toxicity is the strongest, which is very easy to cause food poisoning. The main cause of poisoning is the tetrodotoxin it contains, which can produce symptoms of dizziness, vomiting, numbness of the lips and fingers after consumption, and the incubation period is as short as 5 minutes and as long as 4 hours. In the case of unable to accurately identify the type, citizens and friends should try not to eat the texture snail, and if accidental ingestion poisoning occurs, they should be immediately sent to the hospital for treatment.
