On May 20, Guangxi Huanjiang Maonan Autonomous County held a Maonan Thanksgiving Day event in the underground Nanxiang Township, the birthplace of the Maonan ethnic group, focusing on displaying local intangible cultural heritage items and folk culture.
On the same day, in Nanchangtun, Zhongnan Village, Xiannan Township, the local Maonan people sang the "Welcome Song" and welcomed the guests and tourists with activities such as dancing "Nating", lion dance, and welcoming guests with bamboo pole dances. The site also carried out Maonan flower and bamboo hat weaving skills, noodle carving, auspicious drums, Mao Nanjin, Maonan costume production, folk song exhibitions and traditional sports competitions, etc., providing visitors with a unique folk culture feast.
Huanjiang Maonan Autonomous County, located in the northwest of Guangxi, is the birthplace of the Maonan ethnic group and is the only Maonan Autonomous County in China. The Maonan flower and bamboo hat weaving technique and the Maonan "fat set" have been included in the national intangible cultural heritage list.
