IELTS off-the-job mixed doubles lost one after another! It has been missing the top 8 for two consecutive stops, and the Phoenix is in a slump
On June 1, the second round of the 2023 BWF Tour Super 500 Thailand Open began, and in the five individual events, the mixed doubles of the national badminton team suffered another heavy blow, and the only remaining mixed doubles new pair Jiang Zhenbang/Wei Yaxin won first and then lost, losing to the Chinese Taipei pair Ye Hongwei/Li Jiaxin, missing the round of eight. So far, the mixed doubles team has missed the final championship for two consecutive tournaments after last week's Malaysia Masters.
From May 1, the Paris Olympic points tournament for badminton officially began, and the first event is the Sudirman Cup. Guoya successfully defended his title on his doorstep, achieving another three-in-a-row title, and all players in the team who have a record of playing will receive corresponding points. However, after the Sudirman Cup, the main players of Guoyu began a short break, including the mixed doubles world No. 1 IELTS pair Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong, who missed the next two consecutive Super 500 tournaments.
In the absence of an IELTS combination, Guoyu sent a combined lineup of young and old in the mixed doubles event, including the second combination of Huang Dongping and Feng Yanzhe, plus the newcomer combination of Jiang Zhenbang/Wei Yaxin. In fact, since the Asian Championships in April this year, to the Sudirman Cup, the combination of Huang Dongping and Feng Yanzhe has had ups and downs, especially the Sudirman Cup semifinals with Japan, the two lost, adding risks to Guoyu's road to promotion.
On the night of the Sudirman Cup, Huang Dongping and Feng Yanzhe flew to Malaysia non-stop to start the rhythm of continuous competition. Although the two were more tired, they staged a four-game winning streak to reach the finals, including a semi-final to successfully avenge the Japanese duo, after defeating them in the semifinals of the Sudirman Cup, Kyohei Yamashita / Nanru Shinoya. Unfortunately, in the final, they lost to the Thai pair Dechapo/Sasili, who had won both previous two games, and won the runner-up.
In addition, the newcomer combination Jiang Zhenbang/Wei Yaxin, which began to emerge last year, has improved rapidly in the past six months, especially at the recent Asian Championships, the Nick Yasi combination won the championship. But recent forms have started to ebb and flow, with last week's Malaysia Masters 1/4 final defeat to eventual champions Desha Thailand, and this week's Thailand Open second round exiting early. Another newcomer pair, Cheng Xing/Chen Fanghui, was out in the qualifying round of this week's competition.
In the past few years, one of the most stable single events of Guoyu is mixed doubles, because the IELTS combination, including the previous yellow duck combination, has basically lost the suspense of the mixed doubles champions of various competitions. However, with Wang Yilu's withdrawal from the national team, the IELTS combination tactical adjustment was suspended, and when other mixed doubles combinations of Guoyu were needed to pick the beam, there were one after another cases of dropping the chain, making Guoyu's most stable single event miss the championship one after another. As fans ridicule, the mixed doubles family of the national badminton is indispensable for IELTS!
