The name "LORO" capsule collection stems from the transcendence of trends, generations and genders – "LORO" means "they" in Italian. Suitable for all people, the range is available in sizes from 8 for children to 4XL for adults. Combining quality, practicality and sportiness, it conveys the essence of luxury and reflects Loro Piana's craftsmanship. The brand focuses on transforming luxury fibres into unique fabrics that cannot be replicated. At the same time, we aim to innovate and bring new value to the future of our products.
Loro Piana has its own complete production chain, which controls every step of the way, from the acquisition of raw materials to the production of the finished product, with a constant focus on environmental protection, biodiversity and local communities. On this basis, the "Virtuous Production Cycle" initiative led to the creation of the "LORO" capsule series. Loro Piana repurposes high-grade yarns from unsold pure coarse cashmere knitwear: any stitching, zippers or fasteners are finely removed by hand, and fabrics are sorted by color, washed, broken down and damaged fabrics are treated as spinning by-products, then blended with first-cut undyed cashmere to deliver the same quality and value as new cashmere. Thanks to Loro Piana's expertise in reworking fibers from different sources to achieve exceptional quality and feel, it took just three working days to create such a precious capsule collection.
The main pieces of this capsule collection include four knits with different collars (polo neck, high neck, round neck and V-neck), a scarf and a hat. Clean and contemporary, the clean lines are used in the exclusive shades of existing recycled fibres: grain brown, dune, rain grey, dusk and red sand to create a blend of raw, undyed cashmere for a mixed finish. Other products include the 360 Flexy Walk sneakers and extremely light shoes weighing only 360 grams, complete with a flexible, non-slip high-tech sole and cashmere upper.
The capsule collection will be available on September 1 in Loro Piana's offline boutique and official website loropiana.cn.
cashmere
Cashmere is a rare and precious fibre that originates only from the fine inner layer of Hircus baby goats or cashmere goats, which are native to the mountainous regions of Asia, especially Mongolia and Inner Mongolia, which are mostly inhospitable desert areas with a lack of food and water, with extremely hot summers and bitter winters. To survive in such a harsh environment, these brave critters grow an extra layer of hair under their coarse outer coat, an inner layer of fine villi made up of fine fibers close to the skin, which help maintain a constant body temperature by isolating air and effectively resisting cold air. This soft inner layer is the source of cashmere.
In full respect for local animal welfare and following the natural cycle, local herders comb the goats from March to May, during which time the weather warms up and the inner layer of warm cashmere used by the goats for the winter begins to fall off naturally. The average diameter of cashmere fibers is about 15 microns. Given that 1 micron is one millionth of a meter and cashmere has good temperature regulation properties, cashmere is considered one of the finest and most precious fibers in the world.
