Zhang Qingfu (1901-1968), also known as Zhang Youjia, was a native of Nanjie, Jiangyin, Jiangsu Province. In 1916, he was admitted to the Third Normal School of Wuxi Province, around 1923 he was admitted to the Department of English Literature of Shanghai University, in 1925 he joined the Communist Party of China through the introduction of Yun Daiying, and after graduating from Shanghai University in July 1926, he was sent to the Whampoa Military Academy as a political instructor. In July 1927, he retreated to Taihe, Anhui Province, and served as the director of the Political Department in the Third Division of the Thirty-fifth Army and the First Division of the Nineteenth Army of the National Revolutionary Army. In 1928, he returned to Shanghai and became a professor at the Shanghai University of Law and Politics.

In 1930, Zhang Qingfu became the secretary of the Party Group of the Chinese Social Scientists Alliance. In March 1932, he went to the Special Branch of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in Shanghai and secretly engaged in intelligence work. In 1934, he was sent to northern Shaanxi by the organization to carry out the construction of the base area in northern Shaanxi. From 1936 to 1945, he worked as a political faculty member at the Red Army University and the Anti-Japanese Military and Political University.

During the Liberation War, he served as the secretary general of the Logistics Department of the Northeast Democratic Coalition Army. Chinese served as political commissar and party secretary of the Quartermaster School of the Northeast Military Region of the People's Liberation Army. He is the director of the Political Department of the Quartermaster Department of the Northeast Military Region and the Central and Southern Military Regions. In 1950, he was appointed director of the General Office of the Ministry of Forest Reclamation of the Central People's Government. In 1952, he became deputy secretary of the party group of the Central Forestry Department. In 1956, he was appointed Vice Minister of Forestry, a deputy to the Eighth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and a member of the Third and Fourth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

Embraced Marxist-Leninist ideas at Shanghai University and embarked on the revolutionary road

Zhang Qingfu was born in 1901 to a private school teacher in Jiangyin County, Jiangsu Province. He was intelligent and studious from an early age, and was admitted to the Third Normal College of Jiangsu Province in 1916 and to the Department of English Literature of Shanghai University around 1923. Zhang Qingfu said in his memoirs that Shanghai University at that time was characterized by Marxism-Leninism and communist ideas. Therefore, after entering the school, he soon came into contact with progressive books and periodicals such as Marxism-Leninism, and his thinking resonated strongly, "The theory of social revolution in these journals has greatly inspired me and made me have a revolutionary desire." Because of Zhang Qingfu's hard work and ideological progress, he later became the president of the student union of Shanghai University. During this period, in addition to assiduously studying Revolutionary Books and Periodicals such as Marxism-Leninism, he also conscientiously organized students to read progressive books and periodicals such as "Guide" and "New Youth".

In 1923, during his time at the school, in order to better publicize the revolutionary ideas of Marxism-Leninism, he and An Jianping (An Ruoding), Zhang Xiaoliu, and others established the "Lone Star Society" in the school, with the aim of "studying scholarship, discussing problems, thoroughly understanding life, and fundamentally improving society.", and founded the "Lone Star" magazine. Thus a large number of students accepted the progressive ideas of Marxism-Leninism, strengthened their revolutionary convictions, and then chose the Communist Party, raised the banner of communism, and embarked on the revolutionary road.

In July 1925, Zhang Qingfu joined the Communist Party of China through Yun Daiying's introduction at school, and Zhang Qingfu recalled about his ideas when joining the party: "Joining the party at that time was equivalent to dedicating one's life to the revolution, and at any time there was a danger to life, but in order to realize Marxism-Leninism in the Chinese revolution and ultimately win victory, he was willing to sacrifice himself and fight all his life." ”

After joining the party, Zhang Qingfu served as the principal of the Shanghai Civilian School, a civilian school founded by our party to disseminate revolutionary ideas to the broad masses of workers and staff members.

During his time at the school, Zhang Qingfu also actively participated in revolutionary activities in all walks of life, and in 1925, together with Zhou Pingping, Mao Xueqin and others, he founded the "Starlight Newspaper" in Jiangyin. Zhang Qingfu served as president, and his work created the conditions for the establishment of the party in Jiangyin.

Introducer to the Party

After graduating from Shanghai University in 1926, Zhang Qingfu was recommended by Yun Daiying to enter the fourth battalion of the first regiment of the sixth phase of the Whampoa Military Academy as a political instructor.

Zhang Qingfu successively introduced several well-known personalities to join the Communist Party of China, introduced Song Shilun, who later became a founding general, to the party at the Whampoa Military Academy, and introduced Hu Yuzhi (vice chairman of the National People's Congress after liberation) to the party while working in the Central Special Branch.

Zhang Qingfu was a vanguard soldier at the Whampoa Military Academy, and at the same time a political instructor who was good at political propaganda and dared to fight. He gave a lecture to all the cadets at the Whampoa Military Academy, and the level of his "report on the international situation" was praised by Yun Daiying and Xiao Chunu, who after listening to the report, said to Zhang Qingfu: "I will never forget you in the future."

After leaving the Whampoa Military Academy, Zhang Qingfu actively worked on the hidden front of the Party of the Central Special Branch.

Zhang Qingfu was assigned by the organization to work in northern Shaanxi in 1934. Liu Zhidan was deeply touched by Zhang Qingfu's courage to uphold the truth and his spirit of daring to struggle, and he once said affectionately: "Zhang Qingfu is a good comrade, but it is a pity that he was tired of me in the process of purging the rebellion." So much so that after Liu Zhidan was released, the first person to ask to visit was Zhang Qingfu.

Zhang Qingfu established a deep relationship with Xu Teli when he was teaching at the Anti-Japanese Military and Political University of the Red Army University, when he and Xu Teli lived in a cave, built an old sheepskin in the winter, and swam in the same Yanhe River in the summer. After the liberation, Zhang Qingfu was hospitalized, and Xu Teli visited the hospital many times and sent his son-in-law Lin Shan to the hospital to accompany him for the night.

During the Liberation War, Zhang Qingfu successively served as secretary general of the General Logistics Department of the Northeast Military Region of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, secretary of the party committee and political commissar of the Northeast Democratic Coalition Army Quartermaster School, and director of the Political Department of the Quartermaster Department of the Central South Military Region. During the period of the Quartermaster School of the Northeast Democratic Coalition Army, he paid attention to selecting, teaching, and educating people, trained a large number of quartermaster cadres for the troops, and cultivated talents urgently needed by the troops for the War of Liberation and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.

Zhang Qingfu was clean and honest in his life, after his death, he did not leave any family property to his descendants, at that time the cadres implemented the state supply system, the houses were all state, and did not leave us a penny of savings, the only inheritance for my family was a few old clothes he wore before he died and a few quilts he used before he died. Although he did not leave us family property, he left us an inexhaustible and huge spiritual wealth for our descendants, and we must always tell his revolutionary story, praise his revolutionary spirit, and let the red gene and revolutionary flame be passed on from generation to generation.
