About the Five Origins of Boyi, Jiang Taigong and Gao Surname (I)

Before and after the yan-huang ethnic groups merged into the "Yanhuang" clan, most of the Dongyi clans (including more than 40 Yi clans such as Gaoyi) were gradually integrated into the "Yanhuang" clan through marriage (especially in the form of walking marriage), and the ethnic groups of the later Princes or Kings of Qin, Yan, and Chu were originally Yi people. Some Yi clans gradually migrated to the southern Huguang and moved to the northeast, northwest, southwest and other regions, some merged into the Han nationality, and some formed some of the later ethnic minorities. Those who remained in Shandong, such as Boguyi and Laiyi, were later integrated into the Han nationality.

At the beginning, the "Yanhuang" clan developed from west to east, the Dongyi clan developed from east to west, and the "Yanhuang" clan and some Yi people met in the vast Central Plains and surrounding areas. This fusion formed the later Huaxia ethnic group.

In ancient times, surnames were matrilineal. Later, there were clans, some from the matrilineal line, some from the paternal line, and there was a mixture of matrilineal ancestors and patrilineal ancestors in this period. Later, the clan was solely from the patrilineal line.

Bo Yi was a descendant of Emperor Huan and belonged to the Gaoyang clan of the Yi clan. Emperor Zhao was also a descendant of Emperor Zhao and belonged to the Gaoxin clan of the Yi clan. Jiang Taigong's ancestor Boyi was originally from Donghai, Shandong, and Boyi was the leader of the Dongyi clan (later Dongyi), because Boyi helped Yu to govern the water successfully, during the Shunyu period Boyi was once sealed in the Lü state (land), as a descendant of Boyi, Jiang Taigong was the Shandong Donghai people's clan, taigong was both surnamed Jiang and Lü, which was the result of the integration of the Yan, Huang, and Yi tribes (especially the marriage integration). After Taigong helped the King of Zhou, cut down Yin Shang, and established the Zhou Dynasty successfully, the King of Zhou still sealed Jiang Taigong back to his hometown to establish the State of Qi.

The Gaoyang clan and the Gao Xin clan were originally from the Gao clan of the Dongyi people, for example, the "Year of the Bamboo Secretary" said: The Gao Xin clan "... He was first enfeoffed as the Marquis of Xin, acting as the King of the Gaoyang clan", and the "Gao" clan was given the title of "Marquis of Xin" and the "Gao Xin Clan". The Gao Xin clan is a descendant of the Gao Yang clan, so the Gao Yang clan is also from the Gao clan of the Dongyi people, and the Gao clan is called the Gao clan because of the invention of a kind of house. Later, there were many places called "Gao" in the Yin Shang Oracle, such as "Gao Guo" and "Gao Fang", which should be the places where the Gaoyi people lived, and many Yi surnames were first produced. After it was derived, because of the place name of the "gao" character, the name of the person or the word "gao", the origin of the Jiang family name and other high surnames.

This period of history has determined and influenced the five major origins of the Gao surname.
