At 21:41 on December 15, 2023, the "Remote Sensing 41" satellite was ignited and launched by the "Long March 5" Yao-6 carrier rocket from the 101 station of the Wenchang Space Launch Site, and the satellite successfully entered the scheduled orbit.
The "Remote Sensing No. 41" satellite is a large-scale high-orbit optical remote sensing satellite, which is mainly used in the fields of land census, crop yield estimation, environmental management, meteorological early warning and forecasting, and comprehensive disaster prevention and mitigation.
The Chang 5 rocket is 56.97 meters long, with a core stage diameter of 5 meters, a booster diameter of 3.35 meters, a take-off mass of about 874 tons, a take-off thrust of 1,068 tons, and a geosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO) capacity of 14 tons. The rocket adopts a newly developed long fairing with a diameter of 5.2 meters and a length of 18.5 meters, and the height of the whole rocket has been increased to about 63 meters, making it the tallest rocket in service in Asia and even in the eastern hemisphere.
This launch is the first launch of the "Chang 5" rocket in 2023, the fourth launch from the Wenchang launch site, the 61st launch from China, and the 205th launch in the world. At the same time, this launch is the final battle of this year's Wenchang launch site.
