Before Emperor Ming, there was only one emperor in Chinese history whose temple name was "Daizong", and he was Li Yu, the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty. Traditional official history books have a high evaluation of Tang Dynasty, and the Old Book of Tang even evaluates Tang Dynasty as "the sage of the ancients, who failed to reach this". It is speculated that the temple name of the Tang Dynasty Sect "Daizong" is a temple number based on praise, and there should be no yin and yang weirdness or clear praise and depreciation.
As we all know, the closest perfect emperor in the history of the Tang Dynasty and even China was Li Shimin of the Tang Dynasty. Although Emperor Taizong of Tang explicitly ordered that only the need to avoid "the use of the people" and not the need to avoid words, after Tang Gaozong ascended the throne, he cancelled his father's good policies and required that the lists of "world" and "people" should also be avoided. Therefore, starting from Emperor Gaozong of Tang, the official documents of the Tang Dynasty did not have the word "shi".
Because the word "shi" cannot be used, the Tang Dynasty generally replaced the word "shi" with the word "generation". According to the official evaluation of Tang Dynasty Emperor Tang Dynasty, Tang Dynasty Sect should be "Tang Shizong", in order to avoid the word "World" became "Tang Dynasty Sect". It is precisely because only the Tang Dynasty will replace the word "Shi" with the word "Dai", so before the "Ming Dynasty Sect" of the Southern Ming Hongguang regime, the emperor temple numbers of dynasties outside the Tang Dynasty did not have "Daizong".
However, there were several "Sejong" after the Tang Dynasty, such as Wu Yue Shizong, Liao Shizong, Later Zhou Shizong, and Jin Shizong, among which the most famous was the Ming Shizong Jiajing Emperor. Because of this, the temple name "Ming Dynasty Sect" has two different places: First, if the Hongguang regime does not know that "Daizong" is "Shizong", it means that the monarchs of the Hongguang regime do not learn any techniques and know nothing about history.
Second, if the Hongguang regime knew that "Daizong" was "Sejong", it meant that two "Sejong" appeared in the Ming Dynasty. It should be known that "Sejong" has the meaning of succession to the great unification, and the time when The Jingtai Emperor became emperor was in front of the Jiajing Emperor. Whether the Nanming Hongguang regime knew the true meaning of "Daizong", it was somewhat comical and funny to give emperor Jingtai the temple name "Daizong". Therefore, at that time, some clear scholars ridiculed the Hongguang Imperial Court for giving the Jingtai Emperor the temple title of "Daizong", for example, the scholar Wang Fuzhi wrote: "Tang Dynasty, Emperor Daizong is like Emperor Shizong, and people close to him want to add Emperor Jing, but he does not learn so." ”
