Song carved version of the Long and Short Classics. (Information)

Yesterday, the premiere ceremony of photocopying and publishing the Song carved version of the "Long and Short Classics" pictured above and the symposium on the collation and research of Weng's collection were held. As the nephew of Weng Tonggong's fifth grandson Weng Wange, Weng Yijun escorted 47 volumes of the "Diary of Weng Tonggong" and more than 600 pieces of Weng Tonggong's archives back to China, and entered the above picture free of charge. This is another overseas literature review event following the Shanghai Municipal Government's support in 2000 for the acquisition of 80 precious Weng's books from the United States. The day before yesterday, 81 kinds of precious Weng's collection of books and documents, including this batch of "Weng Tonggong's Diary", appeared in the "Qionglin Jimei - Shanghai Library Weng's Collection and Literature Exhibition".

A wonderful legend in the history of Chinese books

On April 28, 2000, the "Weng's Collection", a private collection of books preserved by six generations of a family, returned to the motherland after more than half a century of overseas travel, and a total of 80 kinds of 542 rare books were officially collected in the Shanghai Library. The "owner" of this collection of books is none other than Weng Wango. In March this year, as the sixth grandson of the Weng Tongshu of the Weng family in Changshu, Weng Yijun donated the Weng Tongshu and Weng Tonggong manuscripts and other Weng family documents in his collection to the above picture, and Weng Tongshu V Sun Weng Mingqing donated and transferred the manuscript of Weng Tonggong's "Diary of The Examination of The Southern Return of The Self-Unitary South". Over the past ten years, Weng's collection of books and documents has been gathered in the Shanghai Library from the United States and Tianjin, interpreting the wonderful legends in the history of Chinese books and the beautiful chapters of Chinese classics.

Not only to collect well, but also to make good use of it, this is the concept of the Shanghai Library to treat precious ancient books, including weng's collection of books and documents, and it is this concept that has impressed the Weng family, so that the Weng's collection of books and documents continues to enter the collection. In 2010, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the return of weng's collection, the "Langhan Hongbao - Shanghai Library Collection of Song Books Exhibition" was held above, which was not only the first public appearance of "Weng's Collection", but also the first exhibition of Song inscriptions held by a public library in Chinese mainland. The 93-year-old Weng Wange arrived from the United States, and when he saw the Song engraving in the "Weng's Collection" displayed in the most prominent position in the exhibition hall, he was excited: "This is the best home for the 'Weng's Collection'. "This year's exhibition is the first time that the annual exhibition of fine documents has been held on the theme of family documents.

The Northern Song Dynasty inscriptions probably do not exceed 10

Guo Lixuan, an expert in ancient books in the above figure, is one of the witnesses to the return of Weng's collection and literature. The day before yesterday in the exhibition hall, he acted as a docent for the public, explaining the stories behind the exhibits. The Song engraving of the Long and Short Classics is a precious classic that was included in the weng collection in 2000. This Song carved orphan book was collected by Xu Qianxue in the early Qing Dynasty, and later passed to the hands of Li Shouqian, coinciding with the Qianlong Emperor's edict to revise the "Four Libraries", and Li Shi edited and revised the "Four Libraries", and presented books as a librarian, which is one of the dedications. In the ancient books, the Song ben is precious and needless to say, and this "Long and Short Classic" is not only the earliest known version and the only one, but also highly suspected by scholars as a Northern Song Dynasty engraving. "This font is quite beautiful, and avoids the 'Heng' character of Song Zhenzong, engraved with 'Hangzhou Jingjingyuan New Seal' and 'Jingjingyuan Seal'. After the Southern Song Dynasty, Hangzhou was renamed Shaoxing Province. These are all important evidence that the Long and Short Classics were inscribed in the Northern Song Dynasty. Guo Lixuan introduced that in addition to the Buddhist scriptures, there are very few inscriptions in the Northern Song Dynasty, no more than 10 in the world, and most of them are overseas, and the only thing that has been determined in China is the "Fan Wenzheng Gongwen Collection" collected by the national map. ”
