Baldur's Gate 3 has landed on the Xbox Series X/S platform in early December, but an issue with the Xbox version of losing saves is still under investigation, and the recent Xbox update is said to fix this, but players are reportedly still losing saves even after the patch.
Larian Publishing Director Michael Douse took to social media to respond to players' concerns about the loss of saves in Baldur's Gate 3. According to Douse, the issue is a firmware issue on the Xbox side and is currently being investigated by Microsoft engineers. Unfortunately, with the Christmas holidays, it may take a while to find a solution. However, Douse assured players that the team would take the issue "very seriously".
Douse went on to say that the issue was not initially reproducible, which led the team to believe that it had been fixed. However, after receiving feedback from the community, the team found that save issues were still plaguing Xbox players. Douse called the issue "complex," but said he sees updates on the vulnerability on a daily basis.
Losing progress can be frustrating in any game, and even more so for an adventure game that takes into account player choice and has a lot of randomness and more than 75 hours of playtime. (Source: Gamerant)
