The "New Journey" excavation section has a total length of 619.53 meters and mainly passes through sandstone and sandy mudstone. The section is a single-hole single-lane circular tunnel, with a minimum turning radius of 450 meters and a buried depth of 33.8~42.5 meters at the tunnel vault.
The "New Journey" is a composite EPB shield machine equipped by China Railway, with a total length of about 97 meters and a weight of 450 tons. The segmental lining ring has an inner diameter of 5900 mm, an outer diameter of 6600 mm, a thickness of 350 mm and a width of 1500 mm.
According to the project plan, a total of 7 TBMs will be used for the construction of the western extension of Line 4, and 6 TBMs have been successfully launched so far.
