However, after arriving at the palace, Wang Zhaojun did not get the favor of the emperor, but only became a palace maid. But Wang Zhaojun did not feel resentful of this, but silently waited in the deep palace. And she had never imagined what fate awaited her in the future.
In 33 BC, the Northern Xiongnu's Zhi Zhidan Yu was destroyed by the Western Han Dynasty, and the Southern Xiongnu leader Hu Han, who had already surrendered to the Han Dynasty, came to Chang'an to see the Son of Heaven. Above the court, Hu Han expressed his intention, that is, he hoped to be able to make peace with the Han Dynasty and bow down to him. In order to implement the foreign policy of Han chauvinism of "serving with virtue", Emperor Yuan of Han agreed to Hu Han's request and gave Wang Zhaojun to Hu Han Evil Shan Yu.
In this way, Wang Zhaojun, with the desire for friendship and peace between the two countries, sent an envoy to Saiwai. The harsh environment outside the sai made Wang Zhaojun, a native of the Central Plains, very uncomfortable. Not only that, but the living conditions here are far less than in the palace, and the customs and habits are far from each other. But Wang Zhaojun knew that she came here not only on behalf of herself, but also of the entire Han Dynasty behind her and the friendship between the two countries.
Therefore, even if there are many difficulties, Wang Zhaojun has overcome them one by one. Not only that, Wang Zhaojun also gave birth to a son for Hu Han Evil Shan Yu, and the two also had a very deep relationship. However, only three years later, Hu Han died of illness. However, Wang Zhaojun wrote to Chang'an many times, but he got an answer that was "from Hu Customs". In this way, Wang Zhaojun married Hu Han's eldest son, Fu Zhu Li Shan Yu. At this time, Wang Zhaojun still did not forget his mission, and lived with Fu Zhu for more than ten years. During this period, Wang Zhaojun tried to play the role of Xiongnu's wife alone. It was precisely because of this that Wang Zhaojun was loved by the people in the Xiongnu, and people all showed respect for this woman from the Han Dynasty. However, his fate was uncertain, and Fu Zhu Li Dan Yu also died in 20 BC, and Wang Zhaojun once again married Sohu Ruo Shan Yu according to custom. At this time, Wang Zhaojun, who was already thirty-four years old, struck one blow after another, causing Wang Zhaojun to fall into grief and accumulate depression, and finally died two years later.
Until his death, Wang Zhaojun was not able to return to Han. And after Wang Zhaojun's death, how did the Huns treat her? Although Wang Zhaojun was a Han Chinese, the Xiongnu held the highest-standard solemn funeral for her to express their sorrow for her. Not only that, in order to pay tribute to her, Sohu Huan Ruo Shan Yu also ordered the slaughter of 10,000 cattle and sheep.
Finally, some Xiongnu people spontaneously buried her, and the people were so distraught that they even cut their own faces with knives and cut off their ears. I hope to use this extreme way to express the sadness in my heart. It was not until later that people discovered that the original Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes murals also had descriptions of this scene. Although this is only a special funeral rite of the ancient Huns, the ferocity of the Huns can also be seen in the ferocity of the Huns when their parents are able to express their grief in such a bloody and cruel way.
Wang Zhaojun's envoy to Xisai not only allowed the Xiongnu to end the disputes and wars with the support of the Han Dynasty, but more importantly laid the foundation for the great unification of the Central Plains Dynasty.
