In the era of self-media, personalized publishing is the best choice
From text arrangement, review and proofreading, to text layout, and cover design, I am doing it alone. The last time I did the same thing, it was a year ago. Because of work, every day from 9 to 5, 8 hours of work is to face the computer to read the text, 365 days a year, except for holidays, weekends, the rest of the time is to look at the text on the computer screen. If you do anything for a long time, you will feel tired and disgusted. So, when I get back to my place where I live after work, I don't want to turn on the computer anymore - even if I turn on the computer, I still take a break from watching TV dramas.
It's New Year's Day 2024, and I'm determined to compile the content of the past year in the headlines into a book. When I do this, I am serious, after nearly half a month of document sorting and review, ID typesetting, it is not easy to pick up the "craft" that has been unfamiliar, to review the course from time to time, little by little small details to make a book beautiful and meet the expectations of the heart.
When I worked in Shunyi before, I didn't understand typesetting, and besides, the work of the publishing company is to edit and typeset in their own way, and in most cases, typesetting can't do the editor's thing, and the editor can't do the typesetting work. When the layout comes out, a word is deleted, and a word is added, it is all the editor's business. Every time the manuscript is discharged, the boss will arrange for the editor to process the text on the typesetting software.
I learned an advantage there, that is, the boss requires, each paragraph should not exceed ten lines, the last line of each paragraph does not say that a single word does not become a line, he requires that it must be added or subtracted, and it must be ensured that the last line of text exceeds half of the previous line of text, so that the board looks beautiful.
The same is true for pages, where a single line does not occupy the page, or the text is moved to the previous page by subtracting words and sentences, or the next page is made into a natural paragraph.
Speaking of which, it should be understood how advantageous the talents of editing and typesetting are in the work of book publishing.
In the era of self-media writing, writers pay more attention to and highlight personalized writing in practice, and will no longer cater to the tastes of different editors in order to publish. The number of impressions, views, likes, comments, and retweets and favorites are the criteria for the quality of content, as well as the criteria for content monetization.
After the content and cover of this collection were discharged, I sent it to my friends, "two lines of tears, one place of sadness" with sharp eyes, and I saw the mistake of "tropical" in the cover picture, which should be "love". I turned a blind eye to such an obvious mistake. I hurriedly went to Toutiao to make an "edit information" to change it, re-screenshot it, and replace the cover picture; "Yunmeng Mountain People" proposed that "first, very few illustrations may be repeated and should be replaced." Second, can the subheadings in the previous part be adjusted to be consistent in word count? Third, as a book, although the author's views have been clearly understood, there should still be a postscript." I readjusted the illustrations according to his advice, about the subheadings, the title of the article from the media is different from the traditional one, and it is important to pay attention to the "three-paragraph" style, which is easier for the audience to open and read as soon as possible, and the postscript was originally because there are already a lot of pages in this book, and I am not going to write, and it makes sense to listen to my friend's words, so I will write these words in a miscellaneous manner, and the whole work is a postscript.
