Once, Master Jingshen, a disciple of Master Laiguo, died of illness at the age of nineteen, and after his death, Master Laiguo also encountered some bizarre and interesting stories. So, what is the fate between Zen Master Laiguo and Venerable Jingshen, and why did Venerable Jingshen pass away at such a young age?

Master Jingshen: The apprentice of Zen Master Laiguo, who died at the age of 19, and passed away with a bizarre and interesting story

In the late twenties of the last century, a little monk who had just turned eighteen years old came to Gaomin Temple. At that time, the presiding officer of Gaomin Temple, Zen Master Laiguo, decided at a glance that the little monk in front of him was absolutely unusual, so he left him in the temple and asked about his origin. It turned out that this little monk's name was Jingshen, and although he was not very old, he had been a monk for two years. Not only that, but he also had the experience of living in a meditation hall.

Upon learning of this, Zen Master Laiguo kept him by his side and put him in charge of the work of the attendants. After that, Zen Master Laiguo selected six or seven people to play seven in the temple according to the requirements of the Dharma, and among them there was pure ginseng. And after the end of the seventh, Jingshen became the most outstanding one among the several people, which also gave Zen Master Laiguo a plan to train him to be the next abbot.

But things didn't go as Zen Master Laiguo had predicted. In 1928, Joshin came to Zen Master's room to ask for leave, and Zen Master Laiguo asked him if he wanted to go home to see his relatives. Unexpectedly, Jingshen actually said that he was not going home to visit his family, but was preparing to die.

Until that time, Jing Shen had only practiced for three years, and it was naturally not convincing enough to propose rebirth, so Zen Master Laiguo also asked Jing Shen if he really had such ability. In the face of his question, Jingshen didn't explain much, but said that he was sure that he could die, and he had calculated the exact time.

Immediately afterwards, under the questioning of Zen Master Laiguo, Jing Shen said that he would die on September 24. In the face of such a resolute attitude of Jingshen, Zen Master Laiguo could only agree. Immediately afterwards, Jingshen proposed that after his death, he should stop for three days and then sit in the cylinder, and the cylinder should be sealed for three years, and the cylinder should not be opened for gold until the expiration of the three-year period.

Faced with this request of pure ginseng, Zen Master Laiguo asked, what should you do if you open the jar again after three years, and your physical body is no longer complete?

After explaining all the requirements, the time soon came to the day when Jing Shen proposed to pass away, and what Zen Master Laiguo never expected was that after Jing Shen sat in the tank, he really lost his breath at the time. Seeing this, Zen Master Laiguo also began to believe what Jingshen said before. Then, according to the previous requirements of Jingshen, he sealed the jar and buried it in the ground.

It stands to reason that Zen Master Laiguo should have brought out the jar of the Pure Ginseng Shrine after three years to seal the gold, but due to the complicated affairs in the temple, he accidentally forgot about it. It wasn't until 1937 that he finally remembered it after receiving a dream from Jingshen.

One night in 1937, Zen Master Laiguo dreamed that he had come to a clearing where there was nothing but mist, and just as he was wondering where he was, a little monk came out of the fog. Although Zen Master Laiguo couldn't see the face of this little monk clearly, his intuition told him that the person in front of him was the pure ginseng who had already passed away.

So, Zen Master Laiguo asked if the person who came was Jingshen, and after receiving a positive answer, Jingshen said again: Master, have you forgotten something?

Before Zen Master Laiguo could reply, he suddenly woke up and returned to reality, and because this dream was not real, Zen Master Laiguo did not take it to heart, but continued to work in the temple. But at night, he dreamed of Jingshen again, and this time, Jingshen in the dream stood next to a jar and said, "Master, I don't want to stay in it, I want to come out."

After hearing this, Zen Master Laiguo woke up again, and finally remembered that he had not yet sealed the gold in his jar according to the previous requirements of the Jingshen. At this time, nine years have passed since the death of Jingshen.

Thinking of this, Zen Master Laiguo blamed himself very much, and called many disciples in the temple early the next morning to dig up the jar that had been buried in the ground for a long time. At that time, everyone thought that the pure ginseng in the jar was likely to have rotted long ago, but after Zen Master Laiguo reopened the jar, he found that there was a fragrant smell wafting in the jar.

Not only that, but the net parameters in the jar are almost no different from those nine years ago, but the net parameters in the jar are tilted to the side. At that time, in order to make Jingshen's head come over, Zen Master Laiguo tied a rope around his neck, but in the dream of the day, Jingshen said that the rope made his head uncomfortable and hoped to be removed.

The next day, Zen Master Laiguo removed the rope according to the request of the pure ginseng, and at this time, the head of the pure ginseng also came over. Subsequently, under the command of Zen Master Laiguo, the monks began to seal the body of the pure ginseng with gold and placed it in the Buddhist shrine. Later, whenever someone came to the shrine to make a wish, it was often fulfilled, and the fame of the temple became more and more famous.

However, as more and more people came to make wishes, the practice of other monks in the temple was also affected to a certain extent, and Zen Master Laiguo also came to the front of Jingshen to educate him. After that, those who came to make a wish found that the pure ginseng was no longer so effective, and the number of people in the temple was reduced, and the monks were able to resume their practice without being disturbed.

In the early fifties of the last century, Zen Master Laiguo passed away. And just a year later, with the outbreak of the Yangtze River flood, Gaomin Temple was also affected to a certain extent, and at that time, the body of the pure ginseng was sealed with gold was nowhere to be found. It can be seen that the fate between Master Jingshen and Master Laiguo has a certain mystical color of Buddhism. To this day, the story of the two of them is still passed down by many Buddhist disciples.
