I love you" A few days ago, in the cultural experience event held in Nanning, Guangxi to celebrate the 2024 United Nations Chinese Day, Pearl of Thailand, sang the Chinese song "The Moon Represents My Heart" with everyone. "The rhythm and rhythm of Chinese fascinated me and made me love this beautiful language even more," she said. On the day of the event, international students from Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and other ASEAN countries gathered together with Guangxi artists, intangible cultural heritage inheritors and cultural volunteers to experience the charm of China's excellent traditional culture.
By the end of 2023, there are more than 10,000 students from ASEAN countries studying in Guangxi. With the advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative and the closer construction of a China-ASEAN community with a shared future, more and more students from ASEAN countries are making Guangxi their preferred destination for studying abroad. One of them is Zheng Yuelan from Vietnam, who graduated from Hanoi University in Vietnam with a bachelor's degree in Chinese Chinese and Culture, and then came to Guangxi to study for further studies. "I studied in Nanning, got married, had children, and had a stable job." Zheng Yuelan is now teaching at the School of Southeast Asian Languages and Cultures at Guangxi University for Nationalities.
In addition to teaching, Zheng Yuelan is also involved in Chinese-Vietnamese translation and translation review. Since 2017, Zheng Yuelan has participated in the translation of Chinese-Vietnamese versions such as "The Belt and Road", "Targeted Poverty Alleviation" and "Special Edition on the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China" in the "China Keywords" series of CIPG. In the process of translating Chinese works, Zheng Yuelan realized that China and Vietnam are both socialist countries, and China has many ideas of governance that Vietnam can learn from. At the same time, she also hopes to continue to play the role of a bridge and a link to enhance understanding and friendship between the Chinese and Vietnamese peoples.
The relevant person in charge of the Department of Education of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region said that in recent years, Guangxi has continuously given full play to its unique geographical advantages, focusing on ASEAN countries, actively participating in the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" education action, and striving to build the brand of "studying in Guangxi", with the goal of expanding the scale and improving the level, and constantly improving the teaching and living conditions of international students and improving the education level of international students. "In this process, exchanges and mutual learning in the field of culture and tourism have promoted people-to-people ties and provided assistance for the brand building of 'Study in Guangxi'." ASEAN-China Cultural Forum, "Red Bronze Drum" China-ASEAN Art Education Achievement Exhibition, ASEAN-China (Nanning) Intangible Cultural Heritage Week, ASEAN-China Music Week, ASEAN-China Micro Film Competition, ...... Since 2012, Guangxi has continued to carry out a series of people-to-people and cultural exchange activities through "inviting in" and "going out" to promote friendly exchanges between China and ASEAN and deepen mutual understanding and sincere friendship between the two sides.
In the past 18 sessions of the ASEAN-China Cultural Forum, with the efforts of all parties, China and ASEAN have successively signed a series of documents such as the Nanning Declaration, the ASEAN-China Memorandum of Understanding on Cultural Cooperation, and the ASEAN-China Cultural Industry Interaction Plan, and issued the Nanning Initiative for East Asian Libraries and the call for international cooperation in safeguarding intangible cultural heritage and joint declaration and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage, and compiled and printed the Collected Papers on China-ASEAN Intangible Cultural Heritage and the List of China-ASEAN International Arts Festivals. It has promoted the development of cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and ASEAN.
Since March this year, Guilin Tourism Institute has been intensively preparing to participate in the "15th 'Red Copper Drum' China-ASEAN Art Education Achievement Exhibition" (referred to as "Red Copper Drum"), Chen Wei, vice president of Guilin Tourism Institute, said that the display of innovative achievements in the "Red Copper Drum" can not only enhance the school's visibility and influence in the field of culture and art, but also contribute to brand building and discipline development. The biennial "Red Copper Drum" is an original brand in the field of art education in Guangxi, with 28 years of rich accumulation. Since its establishment, the event has received positive responses and participation from ASEAN countries and Chinese art academies, and has become an important brand of China-ASEAN cultural and artistic exchanges.
Guo Zhu, a researcher at the Guangxi Academy of Social Sciences, said that after years of holding, the scope of participation in the "Red Copper Drum" has expanded year by year, and it is an international cultural exchange platform with regional characteristics, national characteristics and cooperation achievements.
The neighborhood is deep, and it goes both ways. On the streets of Nanning, Vietnamese, Thai, and Indonesian restaurants abound. In major companies, markets, travel agencies and universities, international students, businessmen, scholars and tourists from ASEAN have used their expertise, resources and experience to build a new bridge for exchanges, mutual learning and joint development between China and ASEAN in various fields.
"From the official to the non-governmental, Guangxi and ASEAN have close exchanges in education, performing arts, cultural industries, tourism, radio and television media and other cultural fields, and play an active role in promoting cooperation between different countries in different fields." Tang Zhengzhu, a first-class inspector of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, said that today, cultural exchanges and cooperation between Guangxi and ASEAN have expanded to many fields. These sustainable, multi-level and multi-form exhibitions and exchanges are pushing the cultural cooperation between Guangxi and ASEAN countries to a new stage of development.
