Before, a translator named Chen Yikan said that describing nature "is the easiest to fall into clichés, the same landscape, the same breathtaking, and has been written too many times".

But there is one person who, in his opinion, can always write so well, so unexpectedly. This person is Robert McFarron, the author of "A Journey to the Depths" and known as "the best walking literary writer of our time":

"The most masterful thing about Macfarron is that he never leaves any scribbling movements, like a mountaineer trying to save his life, and carries out a kind of grace and alertness in his writing with unimaginable energy."

There is a precise and immersive poetry in McFarron's writing, in his masterpiece "Wild Place".

He writes about the ebb and flow of the waves,

"The edge of the sea is drawn downward, like a frowning eyebrow";

He writes that snowflakes melt on clothes,

"It was as if a ghost had passed through the wall";

He writes about the rays of sunlight leaking between the leaves,

"Casting a golden yellow, silver white and copper purple light", walking into the forest is like walking into a "light box".

Reading each description slowly, I felt a breeze blowing, and the snowflakes fell on my cuffs, seeping into the fabric little by little, until they disappeared.

After reading "The Wild Realm", a kind of magic that finds wildness in the daily life and nearby fills the whole body-

On the way to work,

Passing by a road that is potholed by the roots of street trees;

intervals,

Look at the doves hovering in the air, and listen to the leaves rustling in the wind;

At the end of the day,

Watch the sun set over your workstation or stop by the skybridge to watch the magnificent sunset.

These moments resonate with the depictions in the book.

Even though it is surrounded by roads and tall buildings, the earth seems to be lit with wild light.

In this issue:
