A few days ago, Bugatti released a new model Tourbillon, this new car overlord changed the previous Bugatti with the name of the legendary driver, Tourbillon Chinese meaning tourbillon, inspired by watches, a sound is sophisticated, complex, high-end, and the design of the tourbillon structure is essentially against gravity, very in line with Bugatti's philosophy.

After being acquired by Rimac, which specializes in playing with electricity, the 8.0L, W-arrangement, 16-cylinder, 4-turbo engine that was used for 20 years officially came to an end, and now Bugatti is inevitably electrocuted, and the Tourbillon uses a 1800 hp plug-in hybrid system, its 8.3-liter naturally aspirated V16 engine comes from Cosworth, the engine can produce 1000 horsepower, more than most supercars, and the electric system can produce 800 horsepower, More than most high-performance electric vehicles, combining these two systems in a single vehicle, it is the fastest road car in the world, accelerating from zero to 100 in 2 seconds, 0 to 200, 5 seconds, 0 to 300, 10 seconds, 0 to 400, and 25 seconds. The top speed with electronic speed limit is 445 km/h.

What's more, despite using a more complex and bulky hybrid powertrain, the Tourbillon actually weighs 1995 kilograms, less than 2 tons, which is lighter than the Chiron.

First of all, the Tourbillon's 8.3-litre engine is huge, about a metre long from end to tail, but it weighs only 252kg because it is naturally aspirated, eliminating the four turbochargers of the previous W16, eliminating all the associated pipes and intercoolers, and using a lot of lightweight metals and composites. Previously, the W16 weighed around 400 kg.

Then there is the electric system, there are a total of 3 electric motors, two electric motors mounted on the front axle and one motor mounted in an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox on the rear axle, it is not clear what their topology is, they are said to provide a power density of 6kw/kg, a figure that many electric motors cannot reach now.

Battery weight is also unavoidable, with high-performance cars using small but energy-dense batteries, and the same is true for the Tourbillon, which is powered by a 25kWh battery mounted in front of the engine, integrated in a carbon fiber monocoque to reduce weight, providing an electric range of over 60km, supporting 800V charging hardware, and charging times of just 12 minutes from 0-80%.

Battery cooling also has its own set of methods, and most electric vehicles use dedicated cooling channels to absorb heat from individual batteries. Bugatti uses direct cooling, circulating a dielectric fluid around the battery, without any dedicated channels.

The body uses a fully custom carbon fiber shell, the chassis is made of T800 carbon fiber composites, the subframe uses 3D printed components from the American company Czinger, and the aluminum alloy suspension is also 3D printed, and the weight of the entire suspension package is said to be just over half that of the Chiron.

Bugatti says that the Tourbillon shares no components with the soon-to-be-discontinued Chiron, but in keeping with the Bugatti brand's pedigree, classic elements such as the horseshoe grille, C-shaped side body lines and two-tone body colour have been retained.

Even more exceptional are the interior instruments, designed and manufactured by Swiss watchmakers. Consisting of more than 600 tiny parts and using precious materials such as titanium, sapphire and ruby, the instrument has a total weight of just 700 grams and a design tolerance of no more than 50 microns. The left dial is the temperature, fuel and battery gauges, the center dial is the speedometer and rev indicator, the right dial is the power indication of the V16 engine and electric system, the two dials move like clock hands, and there is a small digital display at the bottom for speed and gear selection. This meter works really well.

Rimac calls the Tourbillon "art on wheels, a moving painting", and now Bugatti has Pagani's artistic sensibility and Koenigsegg's extreme performance, anyway, I just have one word: clothes. Last but not least, the Tourbillon starts at £3.2 million and is limited to 250 units, so it's much more than that.
