Haiyan Xu Yongfu went to Pinghu to open a sauce garden, according to the available historical data, it was between 1847 ~ 1871 AD, or even earlier.

Haiyan Xu is a local family, his brother Xu Yongyi once served as the secretary of the Qing court's military department, and his daughter Xu Qiong chose to marry Pinghu Ge Jinhong Jizi - Ge Xun, Ge is also a Pinghu Wang family, and has made great contributions to local culture.

And Xu Yongfu, the founder of Xu Dingfeng Sauce Garden, is Xu Yongyi's younger brother. Therefore, there are also well-connected famous families in Pinghu that can be relied on, and Pinghu is closer to Shanghai than Haiyan, and Pinghu did not have a famous sauce map back then, so it is reasonable to start a business in Pinghu.

After the establishment of Pinghu Xu Dingfeng, because of the proper management of the business prosperous, so in the East Gate Waiheng Street in the eleventh year of Guangxu (1885) founded the East Dingfeng, the next year (1886) in the West Gate Street set up the West Dingfeng, the address in the city of the sauce garden lane of the earliest establishment of the sauce garden is called the old Dingfeng, this is the origin of Pinghu Xu's three Dingfeng.

Because the historical archives of Lao Dingfeng Sauce Garden have been donated to the Municipal Archives, there have been many articles about this kind of research published in various journals, and I will not repeat them. Just write a few words about the information I have seen about Xu Dingfeng.

Not long ago, my friend Mr. Yue Jian of Jiaxing Maritime Safety Bureau invited me to look at his precious collection - a piece with the words Pinghu Xu Dingfeng on it, which is really a precious treasure to this day.

The current chairman of Pinghu Lao Dingfeng Jiang also felt surprised after this thing, and rushed to Mr. Yue Jian's house to appreciate this treasure, he thought it was a milk curd, which shows that Xu's reputation was heavy, and the name of the brand name was made on the packaging, so the prosperity of Xu Dingfeng Sauce Garden is also reasonable.

Friend Ling Yuan Liang Jun has a copy of the purchase and sale contract between Pinghu Xidingfeng and Haiyan Chengcheng Supply and Marketing Cooperative on red tanning oil and red soy sauce (soy sauce drying in the past, so it is called red tanning oil), and the contract was signed on May 12, 1953.

The contract is stamped with the official seals of both parties and the name of the person in charge, and the official seal of Pinghu is: Xidingfeng Soy Sauce Brewing Workshop, and the seal of the person in charge: Xu Shuyun (fully consistent with the local literature of Pinghu). This is the only thing I have seen in Xidingfeng.

Not long ago, I passed by the old house that was preserved in the demolition in the west gate of the old city, and when I saw that the gate was open, I went in to take a look, upstairs is the memorial hall of Professor Qian Nanyang, and downstairs opened a teahouse. Go downstairs and see the sign on the outer wall of the east gate:

Mr. Zhang Qinghe (1897~1986) is also a long-lived person at the age of ninety, the above photo turned out to be Zhang's house, and the side of the river basically maintains the original style, I used to hear the older generation say that the house was purchased by Mr. Zhang Qinghe from others. Because my family used to live in the city, it was very close to Zhang's house at the foot of the West Street in the city, so I also had a lot of affection for it.

Mr. Zhang Qinghe's relevant historical information of Pinghu is uploaded: before and after the liberation, he served as the general manager of Pinghu Lao Dingfeng for many years, and after the liberation, the liquor workshop was assigned to the later Pinghu Distillery. According to the "Pinghu Industrial Chronicle", Mr. Zhang Qinghe once served as the director of Pinghu Distillery from May 1958 to January 1967, when he was 71 years old, which shows that his business ability is extraordinary.

The above few words are a permanent memory of Xu Dingfeng's old workshop that is still operating for more than 150 years! This time-honored Chinese brand is also a symbol of our wealthy hometown in Pinghu!
