The truth about 5G is revealed, with a range of up to 15 km, but the rate may be even slower than that of 4G in Europe

5G has always been advertised, the speed is faster than the airplane, but with the construction of the mainstream frequency band 5G, the disadvantages are becoming increasingly prominent, prompting operators to have to build low-frequency 5G on a large scale, but the speed of low-frequency 5G has been cloud-covered, and recently operators have unveiled the truth of low-frequency 5G.

The truth about 5G is revealed, with a range of up to 15 km, but the rate may be even slower than that of 4G in Europe

China Radio and Television is the fourth largest operator, and the low-frequency 5G test it built in Inner Mongolia recently showed that the speed was much slower than that of 5G in the mainstream frequency band.

China Radio and Television has a 700MHz frequency band, which is currently shared with China Mobile, and the two jointly build a 700MHz 5G network, and the measured results in Inner Mongolia show that the coverage effect is very good, and the rate reaches 320Mbps when the signal is good.

The biggest advantage of the 700MHz frequency band is that the coverage is very large, and in wide-area coverage scenarios such as pastures, the signal coverage can reach up to 15 kilometers, and the rate can reach 100Mbps.

Low-frequency 5G has ultra-wide coverage, but its speed is as low as 100Mbps, which is a bit unsatisfactory. There are two branches of the 4G standard, China pushes TD-LTE, with a rate of 100Mbps; In Europe, LTE-FDD is pushed at a rate of 150Mbps, and it can be seen that the rate of low-frequency 5G is even 50Mbps lower than that of Europe's 4G LTE-FDD.

In fact, 5G technology has gone through many battles, at first China pushed 5G centimeter wave and the United States pushed 5G millimeter wave, and finally American operators will only use 5G centimeter wave as a supplement to fixed network broadband, because the disadvantages of 5G millimeter wave are too obvious, it is a big WiFi, even leaves, raindrops may hinder the spread of 5G millimeter wave signals.

China's operators have chosen 5G centimeter wave, but as Chinese operators have built more than one million 5G base stations, Chinese operators have gradually become unable to bear it, and the density of 5G base stations built by 5G centimeter wave is too high, and the power consumption of 5G base stations is too high, resulting in operators having to shut down 5G networks during idle hours.

In the first two years, China Mobile and China Radio and Television cooperated to build a 700MHz 5G network, from the actual measurement in Inner Mongolia, it can be seen that the low-frequency 5G is indeed good enough, the coverage is super large, and the 5G network construction cost and operating costs can be greatly reduced, but in terms of speed, this is obviously too slow with the 1Gbps of 5G cm wave, which is about the same as 4G, and even slower than 4G+.

It's just that this rate is enough for most consumers for daily use, with the advancement of China Radio and Television and China Mobile's low-frequency 5G network construction, China Unicom has also begun to 900MHz, China Telecom has built 5G in the 800MHz frequency band, and the three major operators have begun to promote the construction of low-frequency 5G networks.

For operators, now controlling costs is obviously the first place, whether to achieve 5G theoretical indicators is not the first consideration, after all, the operator's money is not blowing in the wind, 5G network construction and operation need to consider the cost, benefits, and low-frequency 5G can obviously more easily achieve the expected purpose.

5G began to be commercialized in mid-2019, and in the construction of 5G networks, problems were constantly discovered, and the choice of frequency bands was constantly changed, and finally 5G networks with wide area coverage were built in low-frequency bands.
