Two thousand-year-old villages under the flood season of Huangshan
Recently, the Huangshan area encountered the flood season, but at the foot of the Yellow Mountain, Yixian County, has two world cultural heritage sites - Xidi Village, Hongcun, due to the reasonable design of the ancestors, these two thousand-year-old villages survived the flood safely, the water situation is stable, everything is fine.
Xidi Village: Boat-shaped design

Xidi Village is 700 meters long from east to west and 300 meters wide from north to south. Overlooking from a high place, the rows of ancient residential buildings are designed in the shape of a boat.
Walking into Xidi Ancient Village, there are Qianbian Creek, Houbian Creek and Shewu Creek in the village, and these three streams surround Xidi Village like a rainbow. Three horizontal lines, from east to west, pass through the village, and finally converge from the village entrance.
In addition, since ancient times, Xidi Village has the saying that "the east water flows west, and you don't have to worry about food and clothing", and "the boat-shaped west is good luck". This unique "boat-shaped" layout design allows Xidi Ancient Village to survive the flood season safely, reflecting the super high wisdom of the Hu ancestors.
Hongcun: Cow-shaped design

In the ancient village of Hongcun not far away, it is famous for its "cow-shaped village" layout.
According to the direction of the water potential, the ancestors led the water into the village, and the gurgling water converged in the village to form the "cow's stomach" of the moon marsh, and then followed the "cow's intestine" that extends in all directions, and finally flowed into the "tripe" of the South Lake at the entrance of the village.
This design is not only beautiful, but also irrigates the fertile fields outside the village, realizing the full use of water resources.

When the ancients of Xidi Village and Hongcun Village built the village, they had a long-term vision, paid attention to planning, and built the village after repairing the water system, showing their profound sense of humanistic planning and high-level pursuit of the living environment.
In this season of continuous rainstorms, Xidi Village and Hongcun have used thousands of years of wisdom to show everyone the importance of harmonious coexistence between man and nature.
