The high temperature heat wave is menacing, which puts forward higher requirements for the volatility of VOC gases such as "pentabenzyl and trialdehyde" of automobiles, the stability of electronic appliances and driving safety.

In order to verify the environmental performance of the vehicle at high temperatures, recently, the first entry-level family sedan that passed the "children's priority green cockpit" - Dongfeng Peugeot's new 408 Lang Lang model, was exposed to the sun for 4 hours in the "Flaming Mountain" located on the northern edge of the Turpan Basin in Xinjiang. The results show that the VOC volatilization in the cockpit of the new 408 model is far better than the national standard at high temperatures, and all aspects of the function are still running normally.

Conscientious environmental protection materials, formaldehyde and TVOC are all better than the national standard limit

After the summer sun, the vehicle odor lingers for a long time, like a "gas chamber", which not only endangers the health of people's skin and respiratory mucous membranes, but also causes carcinogenicity to the human body and causes acute damage. VOC emissions define the type and degree of volatilization of odors in the car. In the normal temperature environment, the peak volatilization period of VOC gas can be maintained for 3-15 years, covering the whole life cycle of the vehicle. When the temperature gradually rises, the volatilization of VOC gas in the whole vehicle will be further accelerated, which is harmful to health. In the national standard test, the VOC of the whole vehicle is usually required to be measured at room temperature of 25 °C, and the results can be put on sale. In this challenge, the new 408 model not only opened the high temperature test in the flaming mountain with a maximum temperature of 47.8 °C in summer and a terrifying surface temperature of 82.3 °C, but also extended the high temperature scorching time to 4 hours (3.5 hours in the national standard), which raised the temperature in the car to about 75 °C.

The national "Guidelines for the Evaluation of Air Quality in Passenger Cars" (GB/T 27630-2011) requires that the formaldehyde concentration in the car shall not be higher than 0.10mg/m3, and in this high-temperature test, the formaldehyde number of the new 408 model is only 0.005mg/m3 under the condition of a high temperature of 75 °C in the car, which is better than the national standard.

The second draft of the "Guidelines for the Evaluation of Interior Air Quality in Passenger Cars" recommends that the TVOC is less than 8mg/m3, and in this high-temperature test, the TVOC measured by the new 408 model is 2.1 mg/m3, which is also excellent.

Some substances, such as xylene, are usually found in solvent glues, and long-term exposure can cause neurasthenia; Some substances, such as aldehydes, which do not smell obvious but are inhaled for a long time, can irritate the senses and cause headaches, such as aldehydes, which are usually found in leather and recycled materials.

The new 408 model solves these problems from the source, abandoning the use of waste fibers in traditional cars, and using green materials for 11 kinds of soundproof parts in the car. Not only that, the new 408 model also uses a large number of skin-friendly leather materials with low odor and low VOC characteristics, and gives priority to the use of environmentally friendly water-based glue and hot melt adhesive in the use of glue, controls and reduces the use of solvent-based glue, and tries to use snap-in, welding and other processes in the connection of parts to reduce the bonding process, eliminate the pollution of harmful substances from the source, and achieve healthy driving.

It is worth mentioning that in the previous certification of China Automotive Research Institute Children's Priority (Green Cockpit), the new 408 has also become the first entry-level family car to pass the "Children's Priority Green Cockpit".

The results at that time showed that the content of volatile organic volatile pentapyraldehyde in the air inside the new 408 vehicle was far below the international limit, whether it was a normal temperature test or a high temperature test. Among them, in the VOC test at room temperature, benzene, toluene, xylene, ethylbenzene, styrene, formaldehyde and acrolein in the air in the new 408 car all received full scores, of which the ethylbenzene content was only 0.002 mg/m³, which was 750 times lower than the national standard limit.

The electronics and appliances are stable, and it only takes 5 minutes for the air conditioner to cool down to "feel comfortable".
