Quick guide

A study conducted by (un)Common Logic identified job roles that could be replaced by AI, such as budget analysts, loan supervisors, and insurance sales agents. Occupations that are less affected by AI include dancers and firefighters. Even in less affected occupations, such as farm laborers and fast food workers, may be at risk of automation. The study also noted that there are regional differences in AI job substitution, with places such as Austin at higher risk. In contrast, states like Indiana and Arkansas, which are dominated by agriculture and manufacturing, are at lower risk. Cities in Texas also show varying degrees of susceptibility.

Automate risky work with AI

(un) A study conducted by Common Logic identified several job roles that could be replaced by artificial intelligence (AI). These include budget analysts, loan executives, accountants, insurance sales agents, and paralegals. The study notes that these professions are susceptible to AI-related automation because AI systems can easily replicate their tasks and knowledge. Nationally, these roles make up about 9% of the total workforce.

The impact of different occupations

On the other hand, occupations with a lower risk of being influenced by AI and automation include practical occupations such as dancers, firefighters, and plumbers. However, even jobs that are less affected by AI can be exposed to other automation risks, as the study points out. For example, farm laborers and fast-food workers may be affected by automation. Additionally, professions such as lawyers, CEOs, and civil engineers may utilize AI to improve the decision-making process, although there is a low likelihood of these fields being fully automated.

Regional differences in the displacement of AI jobs

The study also highlighted regional differences in AI job substitution, with Austin ranking sixth in the U.S. for AI-related job substitution. In Austin, more than 10% of workers, about 126,000 people, are at risk of AI-driven automation. States with a high number of knowledge industry workers, such as South Dakota, Kansas, Delaware, Florida, and New York, face greater vulnerability to AI-related automation. Conversely, states like Indiana, Arkansas, and Nevada, where the workforce is more concentrated in agriculture, manufacturing, or services, are at lower risk of AI-driven automation. Other Texas cities, such as Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Houston, also show varying degrees of susceptibility to AI-related job substitution.
